Here's an article I found to explain.

It happened before school started but some of us had come in already... I heard it was in a bathroom too. We were all put on lockdown in to the cafeteria (where I tried to get on to Wifi with my laptop..) and then they moved us in to the gym before letting us go home...I was so scared ><; I don't know who either people involved were or even what happened really...

So, anything really crazy ever happen at your schools? ._.

Holy crap! It would be interesting to find out why it happened.

I doubt the atmosphere in your school wll go back to normal very quickly after someone was slaughtered like that, let alone someone dying.

Yeah, some crazy stuff happened at my school over the years, but nothing compared to that.

Plenty of crazy stuff has happened in the schools I've gone to.
I used to live in Astoria when they made Kindergarten Cop. The adults went apeshit nuts when they got to meet Arnold. The other school I went to we used to stab each other in the arms with forks, and play "trayball" with whole apples. One year I was paid to go onto the school roof and hack into a satellite so the school would have free cable. So yes indeed, plenty of crazy things happen at school.

I found a few emos cutting themselves in the bathrooms back in 8th grade. the same year, a kid in 7th grade kid went around on AIM chat rooms claiming he was stalking students from my school and planning to kill them. And If you guys remember the Virginia/DC sniper shootings, well my school was under police watch for a few weeks until things calmed down. And too sum it all up, the roof over our cafeteria caved in one winter. I had a pretty fun 8th grade. Now nothing happens at highschool.

Senior year in high school a teacher was shot and killed in the parking lot by her boyfriend. We actually heard the gun shots from where we were hanging out (this was before class started).

I think the most violent thing that ever happened while I was at school was some idiot brought a fake gun and convinced a few teachers it was real. There were some interesting nonviolent things though, such as the school's web site being hacked (not even by me!), a period where defective fire alarms kept going off and were simply told to ignore them (would have been a great time for some genius to start a fire ), and a few chunks of the roof caved in due to snow.

Also:

Odgren's attorney, Jonathan Shapiro, said Odgren has Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism, and has been taking medications for many years.

This is misleading. I really doubt AS had anything to do with the murder. Pointing this out is somewhat comparable to pointing out that Hitler had only one testicle when discussing his actions during the wars - it's possible, but unlikely, the two are related.

In my high school, during my freshman year, one of the science teachers in the school had collapsed during his class and started having a seizure. Later that day, he died. He collapsed around the end of the school day; we had maybe 20 minutes left. We all had to be evacuated, partially for our safety (in case it was something in the air), and partially so the emergency people wouldn't have a bunch of students in the way. We all ended up being dismissed, since the busses were coming anyway.

Another thing that happened was someone poured deer urine in the vent system, and our whole school started to stink incredibly powerfully. We had to be evacuated again, but we weren't dismissed or anything.

Edit: Aside from those events, there's always people dying due to car accidents and stuff. I've seen people standing around the flagpole with candles on multiple occasions throughtout each year I was there. The only really noteable student death was one who was fighting in the army or marines or something, I don't remember.

Edit 2: Oh, also, someone at the college I go to committed suicide a few weeks ago. On campus, there's a building that is 5 stories high, with a stairwell right open in the middle (with railings of course), which has the food court, computer labs, etc... and someone jumped off of there. So yeah, that must've been one huge splat. Apparently, it was someone who hadn't registered for his/her classes for the upcoming semester.

A few years ago, someone from my school was killed (and his girlfriend seriously injured) when they were leaving class early one day. I dunno if they were speeding to get away or if it was the other driver's fault (it is still undetermined), but the car was hit on the passenger side and absolutely totaled. They say it isn't good to be hit full on by a big rig. The accident was heard from the school.

There was also a supposed bomb threat at my middle school during... 7th grade? Something like that. The school didn't blow up.

Freshman year, the first building caught on fire and wasn't rebuilt until sometime during my Junior year.

During middle and high school, we would get so many bomb threats, that after awhile, we didn't care about them anymore.

That is the thing that bugs me, they try to blame this on anything they can (really, a few girls I talk to jokingly said they expected people to point fingers at video games for this).

Another thing that really got to me is how the kid admits he did it, but pleads not guilty...then after admitting it, says he hopes he didn't kill him? I mean the kid is obviously really wrong in the head (I recognize his name but I never knew him personally), I know it says he's medicated but...I don't know, kids that seriously impared in their psyche shouldn't really be out on their own like that, so to speak...I KNOW my school has special help programs, I wonder if he was a part of one...

I just think things like this can be prevented a lot of times....

The only student death we've had at my school that I can remember was a kid who didn't come home from a party where there was a lot of drinking.

They found him at the bottom of a lake.

Oh yes, those posts above reminded me. There was one incident where a kid was hit by a car on the way to school - right outside the building - and broke his leg pretty badly. There was still blood on the sidewalk when I went home.

Yoro, I wouldn't be surprised to see video games blamed somehow in the end. It just bothers me that they're even mentioning AS without any evidence that it has anything at all to do with the stabbing.

My exact point...they mention it so they can use it as some sort of excuse, like having AS makes you psycotic....and that makes me mad. Y'know someone said earlier, I think it was blackhole but correct me if I'm wrong, that 90% of this board has AS and yet we don't see them going out and killing people. It's just... ._. to say thats the cause is just so they can plead insanity in court or whatever they do...

Weird school occurences you say?

All I can think of is when I was in 8th grade, one of the furnaces overheated or something, and we were sent home. Just after school started, no less ()

That reminds me of the time I was in 7th grade and it started snowing really hard soon after school started. They sent us all home early because they were afraid there would be too much snow for the buses to drive in by the end of the school day.

There was a few killings when I was in high school (1991 to 1993), but people kept it under wraps . It was more like people will take business in their own hands. And some teachers were rubbed out too. It's a shame when things like this goes down in schools these days, that's why some kids take home schooling.

I dunno, violent crimes like that are rather rare in schools here in Sweden.

There was a murder in Höganäs for a few years ago, and that's the closest I been to a murder. The news was talking about it for weeks as murders aren't very common here, and it was solved as it was some classmate with psychological problems.

Heh, I could see from the picture that he has AS. He does resemble Kim slightly even. The article says that he was having hyperactivity problems, which might have contributed to the killing happening, but AS itself wouldn't be related to it at all.

Oh yeah, my sister had a case of a guy going violent at her dorm, where allot of special people live. Apparently this guy was addicted to his medicine, but was told by the doctor to not take it anymore. When the personal at the dorm (they have personal for the people who need the help) refused to give him a medicine, he made a huge tantrum and started throwing glass around him. So they called the police, and I have no idea what happened next really. Can be said he's been on all sort of addicting stuff from what my sister told me.
