I am trying to connect to Wii Cafe's IRC server (irc.wiicafe.com) and mIRC won't connect! It keeps giving this message:

* Connect retry #5 irc.wiicafe.com (6669)
-
* Unable to connect to server (Software caused connection abort)

I don't know what to do!!!!

Wait and try again later?

Maybe the server is down. It happens sometimes. Or your connection is maxed out (happens to me)

Try port 6667, IRC servers don't usually operate on port 6669 unless you've read that Wii Cafe is different in this regard.

Yeah, I had it set to connect on a few different ports, and it gave me the same message on all of them.

"Software caused connection abort." Hmm. Do you think that a web filter (like websense) would cause that?

Any software firewalls can be blocking your computer. Make sure they let mIRC through. Failing that, check to see if any filters block IRC services from coming through.

Seems pretty likely. See if you can connect on a non-filtered computer.
