| considering that allofmp3 is back up in russia I'll say yes. The reason that it wasn't able to be shut down was because they were working within Russian laws. Now, they might not last long because the US is trying to coerce Russia into changing their copyright laws which would therefore make allofmp3 illegal in Russia. But as long as the websites find places that don't have copyright laws then they will be able to work there, they just won't be able to ever enter the US without a horde of lawyers trying to prosecute them. But hey, if you're making millions do you really need to go to the US. | |||

| Well, they can remain independant as long as they don't want any trade with other nations and as long as no other nation does a strong armed take over of it. The thing is, if Sealand pisses people off then most countries wouldn't object to someone just going in and telling them to knock it off whereas if it was a well established nation there would be some uproar to it. | |||

| I hope it works out for Sealand. In my opinion copyright laws have been made overly restrictive and go way beyond their origional intent due to big business and lobbying. Mickey Mouse should have entered the public domain decades ago. | |||

Italy once stormed an articifical structure built by an engineer and declared an independent country, and attempts by businessmen to construct an artificial island near Tonga were met by annexation. I'm not sure too many people would raise an eyebrow if England or Germany sent the Navy to Sealand and tore it down. |

| Well, the problem is that with Sealand a huge community would make a uproar as well.
While that case in Italy probably didn't have as large backing. Intresting that they mention Ladonia on piratebay as Ladonia is located 10-15 KM away from I live! It's inside the municipality of ours, and despite not being accepted as a official state the government doesn't want to involve too much as it draws tourists.  |

| Realistically, they very well could have no copyright laws in their own country, but what about other countries? It solves nothing when it'd still be illegal to import the data into your own native land. | |||

| The only reason Pirate Bay got shut down was because of pressure from the United States MPAA and RIAA and associated lawyers. Unless new law has passed, Sweden is very much still a Pirate State, in terms of having nothing to do with international copyright.
Sealand may very well be the same, but unlike Sweden, the police (If any exist at all) will have no reason to bust down the door and shut them down, and anyone trying to convince them to do otherwise may as well be talking to a brick wall. |
