| As rumoured, Apple's iPhone has been released at this year's Macworld.
It looks pretty. I'm a big fan of Apple products, I tend to find them fairly reliable, and they usually have very good interfaces, so I'm quite interested in this. Most mobile phones I've used have had hideous interfaces, so I would like to see how this thing is. Course, I'll wait till Ars Technica get one, and "road test" (read: deliberately smash) one before I make any decisions

| I heard it won't be coming out until June, though, and hten only through Cingular. See refrence.
In short: Not really interested, since it'll probably be expensive as all hell. |

Looks like it will be really cool, but... eh. Having my ipod and my phone put together would more than likely annoy me. They've been separate devices forever and it's going to stay that way dammit. 
But it's very pretty looking. |

| I don't have/really need a cell but OMG this looks sweet.
It's supposed to come out in Canada too, but... "There has been no decision made as to when the iPhone might be released in Canada, although after its release in the United States, the iPhone will launch in Europe in late 2007 and in Asia in 2008." So yeah. :\ Dunno who the provider would be either. Either Bell or Rogers. |

| It reminds me more about a PDA than a mobile phone. But then the mobile phone market is bigger than the PDA one so... hmm...
But then I guess iPhone sounds better than iPDA or something silly like that. |

| I've glanced at it over at apple.com and it looks quite nice, but my only issue with having my phone and ipod in the same device is that my phone will have no battery power after I've been listening to music for an entire plane flight. It still looks very nice and maybe quite useful strictly as a phone but I'll be keeping my ipod mini for the long haul. | |||

| Yes, that's one of the downsides to all-in-one devices. Similarly, it can be difficult to do multiple tasks on them at once compared to having a separate machine for each task. That's the one thing I don't like about using my DS as an MP3 player instead of using my dedicated MP3 player; I have to stop the music to run other programs to do things like write notes and look at my schedule. (But the standalone player just doesn't have enough room for my collection, and is hard on batteries. ) |

| I could at least see the MP3 playing while you're browsing the web/etc. I don't think Apple would be that dumb to just have music in the iPod section.
The iPod interface for the phone is quite nice though.  |

| I think apple's going to have a hard time getting these moved. It's a very nice improvement on a blackberry, but honestly, the majority, large majority, of cell phone users don't have any need for those features and most people don't want to spend $499 on a cell phone. If I had to own a blackberry style phone then this would be what I would get, it's implementation of internet, email, music, contacts, etc. are all very impressive but honestly, I need a phone to make calls and to store people's phone numbers and to text message on occasion, I've barely used the internet on my phone (occassionally to find store locations).
Tanks, you must be living in the wrong place because I love my cingular account, works great in the Bay Area and Northern Indiana/Chicago. But I feel your pain, when I had cingular I think I could make phone calls from one location at my school and nowhere within 10 miles of my home. |

Apple will sell a few of these. If they could have gotten away with a 20-30GB HD though... that would have been huge. |

Until I bought more music and found that 1GB was no longer enough for my collection, I was quite happy with the Creative MuVo N200.
Mine was black but eh. It's roughly the size of a cigarette lighter including the AAA battery. Has an AM/FM radio, and can record from radio, built-in microphone, or line-in jack to MP3. Got a nice backlight too. Only real issue is lack of OGG support. Simple as hell to use; plug the USB cable in and drag MP3s into it. So yeah, there are better players than iPod. |

| And here comes the obligatory lawsuit over the name. I was pretty surprised at the naming of the phone because I had heard that iPhone had already be trademarked and there's pretty much no way that Apple Inc. (a new tv setbox, a new phone, and a new name) didn't know about the previous copyright so there's probably some loophole that they've already prepared for this court case. |
