(Is it let's or lets... whatever)

I've created a dialog resource with a combo box on it (drop-down list only) and added some strings to it. The box works, but the drop-down list doesn't respond to the mouse. In fact once it drops down none of the program's windows will respond for several seconds. They receive messages fine but they don't get updated. If I click on something else immediately after opening the dropdown list, nothing happens for a while, the windows all turn white as if they weren't responding, then it reacts to the click. If I wait a few seconds, then click, the same happens but with no delay. Clicking or moving the mouse over the list itself does nothing. However, I can use the keyboard to select an item just fine.

When I use the keyboard I get the following messages:
CBN_SETFOCUS
CBN_DROPDOWN
CBN_SELCHANGE
CBN_SELENDOK
CBN_CLOSEUP
Then for some reason when I switch windows I get:
CBN_SELENDCANCEL
CBN_KILLFOCUS

If I try to use the mouse I get:
CBN_SETFOCUS
CBN_DROPDOWN
<big delay here>
CBN_SELENDOK
CBN_CLOSEUP
CBN_SELCHANGE
CBN_SELENDCANCEL
CBN_KILLFOCUS

As far as I can tell I'm doing this the same way as I have in the past which worked. It's doing the same on both machines I tested on, so I dunno what's up.

[edit] screw you HTML

"Let's" is the contraction "let us." "Lets" is analagous to "is letting."
