I do PSX emulation alot.
You know, why not do psx emulation. It is hella easy!(Specially with grandia =p)

It is as simple as googling the torrent of the game you want! Huzzah!
All you need is the correct plugins.

The point of this thread is to say why you do/dont emulate psx games.

Post away ^_^

There aren't really any PSX games I like.
But ePSXe runs them better than my PS2 does.

The only reason I would fire up ePSXe again is to play Xenogears trained. If I had a modchip on my old PSX, I'd play it through that way.

My comp's not that great, even with a RADEON STEALTH 256MB card in it. :\

I may start emulating it to play SotN, Medievil, Alundra, and a few others since my modded PS2 died.

Nothing better than actually using Sony's PSX Emulator on a custom PSP firmware =D

I never use my real PSX. There's probably a number of decent games for it I'm missing (would love to get a copy of Chrono Trigger), but hell if I can find them.

Chrono Trigger is not worth it on a real PS1. I bought the game when it came out and after I seen those horrid lagtimes I never touched it again. FFIV didn't seem to suffer as bad, though.

Summary of Chrono Trigger on PSX:

1.Start game...
2.Crono begins moving around, you hit Triangle to open the main menu.
3.Load time...
4.You get done with that, exit your house
5.Load time...
6.You hit the menu button just b/c you can't believe it took 4 seconds to load the menu the first time. SNES CT was never this slow, not even close.
7.Load time...
8.You decide to play through for a bit, maybe it won't be so bad.
9.You eventually arrive in 600AD to find that the music so wonderfully rendered for CT on the SNES sounds hollow and cheap on the PSX port.
10.You turn your Playstation off and go play on an SNES emulator, b/c some jackass stole your CT cartridge while you were in college.

True story...

MoN: The loadtime that really killed me was right before a battle, it seemed streamlined on the SNES, screen freezes to load before the battle starts, really hurts it.

SKM: If you have $30-40 to spare you could probably easily find a copy on e-bay.

Amen to that, I actually wasted a chunk of money on Chronicles when it came out, played through it (somehow), but decided emulation was, uh, a lot more intelligent of a way to play Chrono Trigger. V and VI, on Anthology, never had as much of a problem in my opinion.
I only have one set of PSX ISOs on my computer... they're from Final Fantasy IX, a game I hated from the beginning and I haven't bothered deleting... so ePSXe pretty much rots away on my C: drive.

I only bother to emulate Nintendo products. Nes, Snes, and mostly GBA. I don't want to bother with installing plug-ins.

uhh... N64 is a nintendo console, and all the (good) N64 emulators use the plugins system as well.

as long as you have a graphics card, finding plugins is easy. If you don't... emulating these systems isn't worth trying, you won't be able to anyway.

if you get a good graphics card, you can run most games with better graphics than the actual system.

Eh, I've been thinking of doing PSX emulation for awhile since I have a more powerful computer. I know my old computer was pretty slow and it didn't run N64 roms that well when I tried to last summer.

They have too many third party developers. Choosing games can be so confusing when you have more than just Mario, Zelda, and Metroid.
