‘Oh bloody hell’ thought Francis as he eyed Rufus with disgust.

Thomas glanced at Francis’ expression and let out a small chuckle. Anything that annoys Francis is good in his book.

“Well then. The boats should be moving any min–” As Thomas spoke the boat gave a slight jerk forward. The boat took off at a slow pace but as it gained momentum Thomas began to panic a bit.

“Afraid are we now?” smirked Francis as he took a cautious seat. He could see the sweat running down Thomas’ face as the boat continued its journey toward Hogwarts castle.

“So....so...sod off” spoke Thomas meekly. He closed his eyes and breathed in deeply. He was not about to make an ass out of himself on the first day. After a few seconds of deliberation he decided the best course of action was to sit down, close his eyes and act like nothing was happening.

“Sleeping beauty. Might as well open your eyes. We are almost at the castle” said Francis calmly. He was gazing forward with a laser like intensity; the focus of his attention being the school.

‘I finally am here’ Francis thought.

The boats were moving along the water on its own, which was a bit strange, but Melo didn't care as he has seen enough weird things on the trip here, from super cold trains to talking dragons.

As the school seemed to be getting closer, it wasn't coming soon enough. Melo pulled out his Gameboy and turned it on...

...but no power seemed to come from the gaming handheld. Odd.
Thinking it was a battery issue, he replaced the batteries but to his suprise, still no power.

He turned it back off and just held and stared at it.
"Huh, odd. My Gameboy doesn't work..."

"WAIT FOR ME!!!"

Ruffy came barreling down to the boats with a popsicle in his hand. He leapt into the air a good seven feet away from the boat Francis and Thomas were on and dived right into it. Everyone looked confounded. The boat was going nowhere and there was no need for the rush.

"I was getting a popsicle and I lost track of time, good thing I didnt miss the boat"

Feeling as though he had greatly succeeded Ruffy sat himself down in the boat and shoved the entire popsicle into his mouth.

"Sho... wah-ee i'hn't 'is boa' mo-bing ye'?"

Rushuna looked back to glance at another familar voice. She gave Melo a weak smile, much like she did to Fires. As she turned her head, Ka'nae poked his head out and repeated his message.

"Hi there. Rushuna's got a sore throat from the crazy weather, so she won't be talking much.."

As soon as each boat was filled to its capacity, it started moving on its own.

Rushuna's were a bit wide right now. What exactly was this world she was stepping into?

Melo walked over towards a boat with his luggage. He slowly put the luggage in and sat on top of it, double checking the balance of the boat. Perfect, as he always managed to do at his home.

He gazed at the lake to see how deep it was. Well, it was too dark for him to see, so he focused on the people in the boat with him. He saw Rushuna and Fires, and a smile gleamed on his face.

"What a small world, huh?"

Francis looked at the boat in a tentative manner. ‘This boat better not sink’

“Is this a good thing? I mean having little kids in the rain then making them get into small boats to cross a giant lake? Does that worry you a bit?” asked Thomas. He sounded a bit nervous, like one who is found out of their element all of a sudden

Francis did not respond. He held a smirk on his face as he noticed Thomas’ uneasiness into getting in the boat.

“Are you listening to me? Anybody there?” Thomas waved his hand in front of Francis’ eyes to draw his attention. “Doesn’t it bother you? I mean, it is an outrage for us to do th-”

“Shut up” interrupted Francis. His sudden good humor evaporated into the air. He was starting to feel the chill of the night and the rambling idiot next to him was not helping matters

“Did you know that when you are nervous you tend to ramble on and on? You sound like a bloody parrot. Doesn’t it bother you?” said Francis.

Thomas opened and closed his mouth in shock for a few seconds before he composed himself. He straightened his robes and smirked.

“Yeah yeah. I got the point”

Hearing Fires' voice, Rushuna turned her head. A smile appeared on her face for just a brief moment before fading away. She then continued to face the lake.

Ka'nae popped his head out of the neck hole of Rushuna's robes.
"She's.. uh.. She's not feeling well." said the little dragon.

For a moment, the attention on Rushuna was taken away by the large owl giving out a hearty sneeze.

"Ah, yes! Rushuna has a sore throat. It's because of all this rain and cold and such."

Ka'nae, feeling satisfied with response he gave, retreated inside Rushuna's robes.

Meanwhile, the boy with the dark red spikey hair cleared his throat.

"I don't mean to interupt, but I thought I'd let you know the train is unaffected. Infact, I bet it's completely driven by magically enhanced shovels and levers. Why they're making us travel this much, I don't know.. But at least they're nice to have the anti-technology thing around. From what I read, magic near a computer is like setting off an emp pulse!"

Rushuna felt the little dragon spirit in her robes squirming around. She was was about to smack Ka'nae until he popped his head out next to one of the girl's ears.

"< Rushuna! I think I know what went wrong! >"

"< What? >"

"< These two children mentioned technology not working on these grounds. >"

"< I see.. >"

This information was not going to help her, but at least she knew what the problem was...

Had Rushuna kept her eyes open a moment longer, she would've seen Fires managing to slid in and seat herself on the board bracing the other side of the rowboat.

"Why... can they send the train halfway there then dump us out in the cold... I hope this is just something to do with the loss of technology that people were talking about..." she held her hood close, shooting a hollow glance to Rushuna. "...you don't look so hot yourself."

Rushuna quickly hopped onto an empty boat. She did not want to deal with asking permission, especially when she cannot even communicate with anyone at the moment.

The language barrier had provided a major obstacle in her plans, but she had no choice but to continue forth. She has been in worse situations than these. She can deal with it. Maybe she can pull away from everyone and hide within the shadows, lurking around and searching for the one who had put her in such a predicament.

"Gack!"

Rushuna snapped her head to the side, looking at the source of the sound. She felt the boat rock as the boy she had labeled as Idiot One face planting onto a seat. A very large owl jumped off of the boy's head and perched on the side of the boat, with a rather agitated look in its eyes.

The shining-red head's eyes shifted back over to the idiot as he opened his mouth. Still not understanding what was said, Rushuna just furrowed her brows a bit and slowly nodded. She then turned her head and looked forward.

"When are they going to hand us the paddles to start moving?" thought Rushuna. She closed her eyes and rubbed her hands on her face. "At this rate, Idiot Number Two will get on.."

Zaros and Kent couldnt help but grin at the wisecrack. Zaros piped up.

Zaros: "Hahaha. Anyways. Im Zaros, and beneath me youll find my other half, Kent."

Kent waved hello, not wanting to be rude.

Zaros: "So... you dont suppose there's anything living down there... do you?" Zaros let out a shudder from an unknown memory

???: Don'cha mean lakesick?

This comment came from a boy with blue hair, parted down the middle, who got into the same boat as Kent. He was followed by a girl with pink hair done up in pigtails.

Boy: The name's Billy.

Girl: And I'm Kidd.

Zaros and Kent had managed to get out of the train. It was a very interesting situation, trying to weave their way through the multitudes of feet and robes and luggage, but after several minutes of epic maneuvering (and a little shouting from Zaros), they were off the train. Kent dusted himself off and moved continued moving with the crowd.

Zaros: "So... how do you suppose we are getting up to the school?"

Kent shrugged and moved with the crowd, looking for any familiar face. A few seconds later, they both heard a voice, booming overtop of the rest.

???: "Firs' years! Firs' years! Follo' me! All of you oth'rs! Off to the carriages wi' ya! "

Kent began moving towards the voice, the crowd getting progressively shorter as he went. Soon, the pair found themselves at the edge of a very massive lake, with a multitude of boats floating on the banks, some of them already filling with students. Kent and Zaros heard the booming voice again.

Hagrid: "Now, rememba'! Only fou' people to a boat! Don't rock the boat or you could fall in, and be sure to keep your hands, feet, and otha' body parts you wan'a' keep inside of it! Now, get a move on! "

Kent quickly jumped for the nearest boat and sat down.

Zaros: "I hope this doesnt make me seasick..."

((.... ))

The giant led the first years of Hogwarts to a lake. He abruptly turned around and, in doing so, almost knocked over those directly behind him with the tail of his coat.

???: Oop! Sorry!

Kirby nervously smiled as he backed up a bit. The man looks down and gazes upon the crowd of new students.

???: Ah, where're me manners? The name's Hagrid, I'm the Keeper of Keys 'ere at 'Ogwarts. An' a bit more, but I'll let you children fin' that out!

He held up a massive arm to point at the tiny boats in the lake.

Hagrid: Now, rememba'! Only fou' people to a boat! Don't rock the boat or you could fall in, and be sure to keep your hands, feet, and otha' body parts you wan'a' keep inside of it! Now, get a move on!

Hagrid then turned back around to get into his own boat which he took full use of. The students, meanwhile, began to scramble for any open boat they could find.

Guts, always the creative thinker, had found the quickest route off the train...

Through the window.

He ran along the roof of the train until he spotted a tree near the platform, which he then used to make a more or less subtle landing...

Guts: Habilila-HUP!

First tossing his duffle bag down, Guts leapt from the roof, catching one of the tree's branches and swinging to a soft landing before picking the bag back up.

Melo exited the train and caught glimpse of a giant. Still holding to his luggage and such, he dragged it all toward him. He wasn't too sure what to make of him, but he said to follow him, so he felt that this man was staff here. "Let's not get off on the wrong start," Melo thought as he looked around to find someone familiar throughout the thick crowd.

Kirby: Well, howdy! You seem bursting with energy.

Kirby stared at Rufus with a slightly nervous look. However, unlike most others, the dark red haired boy’s expression was rather positive and welcoming. If that was possible.

--------------------------------

Rushuna’s shifted towards the loudmouth. Yet another idiot.

She sighed to herself. She did not see Melo or Fires yet. Of course, it would be very hard to find the latter in this type of crowd. Perhaps it was best if she had not found her cabin mates. After all, she did not plan on staying at wherever all these children were heading to.

“< Rushuna! Let me look! > “ whispered Ka'nae, poking his head out of the girl's robes' neck area. He looked at the older children walking towards the carriages with no creatures at the reigns. The little dragon spirit’s eyes continued to scan the area.

These grounds felt very homely to him, even though he has always lived in an urban area all of his life.

“< Ka’nae >”, said Rushuna, in a very low voice. “We need to concentrate. We need to find this person that did this to me.”

“< Yes. >” , responded Ka’nae. “< I know. But.. This will be very tricky.. It is as if we have stepped into a different world! >”

???: Firs' years! Firs' years! Follo' me! All of you oth'rs! Off to the carriages wi' ya!

A man of giant proportions was striding through the crowd outside the train, parting the mob as he went by. Most of the students fell silent as they saw him, while others gossiped on who the giant of a man might be. Everyone seemed to have forgotten about Rufus.

Rushuna’s eyes opened up as she witnessed what seemed to be Bigfoot.

-------------------

Kirby: *whispers* Man, I sure as heck don't wanna be caught when this guy is angry.

Kirby stared at the massive bulk of fur and hair in front of him. Despite the large man's appearance, Kirby felt like he did not have to worry about anything.

Coo: Aaachoo!

Kirby: Ow! Don't tense your talons up like that, Coo!

Coo: *click beak angrily*

Kirby furrowed his brows as he started to look around. He then quirked a brow as he looked around the carriages.

Kirby: If it ain’t one depressing thing it’s another. I hope that’s what they look like and that they’re not just malnourished…

“So...” started off Thomas. Both he and Francis were still in the compartment. They had not moved since putting on their robes.

“Yes?” answered Francis. He set his gaze to Thomas’ face.

“You do realize that we have to get off this train eventually, right?”

“Really? I mean, are you sure?” Francis said sarcastically. “I mean, here I was trying to teleport us to the school but now you say that we have to get off the train and walk? Shocking indeed”

“Okay, okay. Enough with the sarcasm. I get it. But why are we sitting down and not in the hallway trying to get off the train?”

“I rather wait a bit more and leave when the hallways are not so crowded. Also, I don’t wish to run into any bubbling idiots on our way to the school”

“How can you know who the idiots are? You don’t even know all these people. It is not like an idiot is just going to scream out that he is an idio– ”

Thomas stopped speaking when a shout was heard. ‘MY NAME IS GORILLA H. RUFUS AND THIS IS RUSTY’. Thomas opened his mouth to say something but out of shock, words failed him.

“I told you. Idiots are everywhere. Now let us get out of here before we are left behind” said Francis as he moved toward the compartment door clutching Orion in one hand and dragging his luggage with the other

Kent and Zaros glanced out into the flooded hallway and sighed.

Zaros: "Geez... whats the rush?"

Kent grabbed his little suitcase and leaned against a cabin wall. Herds of feet stampeded down the hallway just outside. Zaros glanced around the cabin.

Zaros: "Guys, you wouldnt mind giving us a hand... would you?"
