Well... you should really think about writting some tutorial. Even I have problems to handle SMILE. We know it's a nice editor, but we'd like to unleash its full potential.

Wow. Even experts can be such n00bs at times I guess I should also tell you that Samus's Palette Editor can take any palette locations that you happen to have . . . List any palette locations that you know (that I don't have listed in SMILE) and they'll be added in the next release.

You should have told me that a couple months ago.
Oh well, I needed to reprogram part of it anyways for the flashing letters.

Kej: You know I love ya (in an entirely platonic way), but you kill me. SMILE can decompress and recompress this just fine. Open up the Graphics Editor . . . In the lower right you'll see "Special GFX" . . . Choose "Title 2".

But that option starts a new game as if you've already saved at the ship...I was hoping to start a new game with the scene of Samus flying towards Zebes...

Also, how do I use Lunar Compress/Decompress? Specifically, what do I use for "Format" and "Format2"? I fail to grasp... :(

Never mind!

Yep right here:

2. Well I edited it in YY-Chr but you can easily remove it also...

Edit: The YY-Chr file:

1) Haven't messed with that at all, sorry.
2) You can easily remove or edit it. Adding new tiles is a bit of a pain though. Those are *sprites*, not background tiles as you might expect.
The graphics are compressed at A80D8 in the file(no header). You'll need something like Lunar Compress/Decompress and Tile Layer Pro.
3) Lemme check my logs...
[12:27] <Kejardon> looks like you need to change a jump address
[12:30] <Kejardon> 59B62 (no header)
[12:30] <Kejardon> Change that to 38
[12:31] <Kejardon> it's currently 29
[12:32] <Kejardon> ah, there's another pointer at 59F21 you need to change to 38 too.
4) SMILE can do that currently. It's somewhere in one of the menu options.
::edit:: The board ate my < and >'s.

Does anyone have any information with regard to the red text that loads as you start the game (1994 -> Nintendo -> Presents -> Metroid 3)? Know how one might be able to edit it...?

Also, the title screen...is there a reasonable way for me to remove/edit the logo and copyright? Just have the background loop by itself?

ALSO...the movies that play if you don't press a button...how can I go about removing/bypassing them?

And, hell...why not...skip the intro? In that, I'd like the game to start with you flying towards Zebes...leapfrog the chat and colony segments...
