I really liked Disco Dan's "Blue Lightning" mix for Megaman III.

II definitely does seem to get covered more though.

Ugh.. hard choice.
I'll go with 3. Just a *hair* better gameplay and music, IMO.

Oddly enough, MM2 and MM3 are the only megamans I have for the NES. XD

I don't know why people prefer 2 over 3 remix wise, but you can't deny that the 2 soundtrack is excellent. A lot of room for creativity there.

But 3 should have a bit more than what's currently floating around out there, yes.

Yea, it's SO hard to find good Mega Man III remixes. Albeit the boss music by Gux is not bad.

Why all the hate for VII? I thought it was pretty good. Second Megaman game I ever played, and the one that made me love the entire series, too (first ever was X).

Now, if you want a bad game, take a look at High Max... yuck.

I rather like the fact that II garners so much respect from OC Remix, but I've got to overall go with III as more a favorite, even if I find myself rocking out to Wily's Mosh Pit more than any other OCR I have.

But then again, my absolute favorite will always be the Legends games...

After playing 3, 2 started to feel really sluggish to me... I dunno why, maybe I was just used to sliding everywhere and shooting up and down ladders in each game thereon, and I thought 3 was far more forgiving on the platformer side of things. That's probably the primary reason I didn't like 7, just because it felt clunkier to play than the others. I didn't mind 8, it didn't terribly stand out to me though.

I still personally believe that 3 was and will always be the pinnacle of NES music.

I AM MORE THAN JUST A ROBOT!

Also, the final boss of MM7 was way worse than Slash Man.

Well, I'd ALMOST agree with 7 sucking but it did have SOME merit...

...I will say that Slash Man, as a boss to go against, sucked. The whole OH I CAN'T MOVE UNTIL HE HITS ME IF HE PAINTBALLS ME is about as clean a ripoff of Bright Man (except he's even cheaper) than I could hope.

There's some decent remixes in Wily Wars.

It was a good concept by Capcom. Maybe not the best execution... but they meant well.

Megaman The Wily Wars wasn't that great either in my opinion.

For those who have never heard of it, it was a remake / port of Megaman 1-3 for the Genesis. But the music did not translate very well at all (seriously, the music was just horrible), and it seemed like they really messed up the physics of the games. Weapons didn't seem to shoot or act like they did in the NES versions, it just felt completely off.

8 really wasn't that good either, but I'd say I liked it more than 7. The things I hated most about 7:
- Proportions were horrible. Megaman just seemed huge, compared to other games. They got this right in 8.
- Physics were horrible. Bullets and stuff did not seem to shoot like they should at all.

And well, it just kind of sucked. The Wily Wars, 7, and 8 were all pretty bad.

1, actually. A fully charged Atomic Fire completely destroys Wood Man. And of course, a single Metal Blade takes care of Metal Man.

I'll have to go with MM3 here... they're both extremely good games, but 3 is more than 50% longer, and as we all know, more is better. Plus, 3 has Proto Man and his song, the single best piece of music in the series. Love the remix on Anniversary Collection.

As for worst game, 8 (the main series really hit a slump after 4, though. Guess Capcom were focusing more on the X series at the time). Or the Game Gear game, but that was just a shoddy port of various parts of earlier games, and the screen size is what ruined it, so it doesn't really count. Neither do the PC games, I guess, since they weren't made by Capcom.

Honestly, if you're going to talk about IV, it was better on the GB than it was on the NES.

Maybe that's because that was the first MM game I ever played.

I was thinking VII but even that's not horrid... it's just not up to the level of the others.

Haven't played 8, MM & Bass is good.

Very tough choice here.

Megaman II
- Most people seem to recongnize the themes from this one. Covers, whatnot. Music was amazing.
- Not very fun if you're not playing on Hard mode. Normal mode is WAY too easy. Especially when you use the bosses weaknesses. Don't some literally take like 2-3 hits then?
- Although the original was fun, this game probably set the global standard for dozens of Megaman games to follow (MM and the X series).

Megaman III
- Intro was awesome.
- Introduced Protoman, who is incredible. Mid-boss fights with him were fun.
- Introduced the "dash".
- Bosses seemed more challenging than II.
- I love Snake Man's theme.

Overall, I'm probably going to have to say these are by far the best Megaman games out there, in my opinion. II set the standard for many to follow, had some of the most memorable themes in gaming history, and then III took the whole formula and made it even better.

I've pretty much always favored Megaman III mroe than any other Megaman. But it doesn't beat II by much. I just enjoyed the presence of Protoman, and it seemed like a more nicely polished game than II did. Levels, and everything about it were just awesome.

IV was definitely a slump down from the previous three, but I still enjoyed it. V I think was much better, and had some pretty awesome themes. It also started showing off bosses in more unique designs, rather than looking like men in suits. VI was okay, and has a soft spot in my heart because it was the only one I actually owned when I was young, but its always been the easist Megaman game for me, almost too easy.

So yeah, I love Megaman I-VI to death, but both II and III take the cake by far. And then after that, I'd say I liked III just a little more.

Yeah, I couldn't tell you guys how much I played the Anniversary Collection when I first got it.

Colin: Worst Megaman? VII, hands down.

That game seriously sucked. Megaman and Bass was really good though.

Oh geez... it's like you're offering me two meals that I love. It's so hard to choose.

I'm going with II only because it was the first MM that I played, the soundtrack is engraved into my mind and it was just... fun. The series was still incredibly original back then and all the levels were challenging and... yeah.

III would be an EXTREMELY close second, however. Solid gameplay although I disliked a couple of stages... Needle Man's second stage would be one. The Rush Jet portion.

Worst MM... eh, I don't know. I still haven't played VI all the way through so we'll see. Can't be I or IV though.

Hell yea!

MM III did display more of the classic megaman slowdown though. Partly because it was a bigger game. You have 24 robot master fights, people. The enemy design in both games was really excellent. And if you notice, the bosses jump a lot more in III but in II, the attacks cover the screen more. Especially with Heat Man, Wood Man, and Air Man.

Am I the only one who hated MM2's levels with a passion?

I mean, fuck Crash Man's stage with its embarrassing disappearing blocks that made Magnet Man and Ice Man's stages look good. Fuck that boss where you had to break the walls with Crash Bombs and died if you ran out.

MM3 was class. That whole doc robot thing was fun, if bizarre. Protoman made his first appearance. MM3's bosses were slightly better than MM2, although I admit in both they're all freaks--and there were more of them in MM3.

Wouldn't you rather travel through the most annoying pits of Snake Man's stage or those clashing things of Hard Man's stage than, say, their annoying Bubble Man's stage counterparts in MM2?

Geez people. What are we basing this on? Soundtrack or actual gameplay? >>

So what if Shadowman's theme kicked ass. Wily's first stage theme in II kicked that much more.

EDIT: Alastor, you mean on NES or in the MM first series? I'm leaning towards 8 myself.
