Posts: 7846/8204		 old-timey belief has it that knocking on wood brings good luck, or wards off evil. As an spoken or written expression, it is meant to convey a hope that whatever good thing is occuring will continue to occur after being pointed out.

I'm not really sure what Colin's getting at there, though I would guess it has something to do with it wanting no research to show up that would back up the crazy.

And you know, this brings up another, related question:

DOES THIS HAVE ANY RELATION TO PEOPLE FEELING LIKE THEY'RE THE OPPOSITE GENDER? You know, there are men who feel like they're females trapped in a male body, so they'll have special surgery to make themselves look like the opposite gender. I wonder what causes that? This Shift_JIS ASCII art of Kikkoman is the very source of Kikkoman. Everything else is derivative of it.

As any true nerd knows, the original version is (almost) always superior to any edits, remakes, or alternate versions. Usually sequels and prequels as well.

Posts: 4013/4077		 Yeah. Hell, give a GameFAQs ASCII Artist a day or two, and he can make a better looking ASCII of Kikkoman in Arial. In fact, I have such an ASCII for you right here. So there!

(P.S. Best viewed in a bright scheme such as wtfweb's bright, or even something like Icy Blue; if you cannot view this ASCII or cannot see it well, switch to a different scheme to view it better, as I am too lazy to learn how to put it into a table for improved viewing, and it just looks horrible in white)

Posts: 582/648		 Indeed, but Soy Sauce Warrior Kikkoman is from Japan (via the planet of Soy, of course) and it would be a crime to try to adjust his ascii art to fit a Western standard.

And the default font for all webpages.... in Japan.

Which is why it's become the standard font for Japanese Ascii art.
