Just removing quotes from it would be pretty hard, as well as the "content padding" problem...

Or they'll just, you know, keep making a whole lot of really small contentless posts until it overwhelms everything else the same way as before, anyway. Just look at how high Lakithunder ranked yesterday on this system.

I'd put my bets on quote abuse more than anything, as then it has the illusion of relevance as well as the added benefit of large character-counts.

Personally, I don't see how it's necessarily a great measure of anything statistically, unless you're checking to make sure people didn't spam or post overly short replies to anything.
