This seems to have gone unnoticed...

But all I can say is, "wow, trippy"

Quadruple post and a bump.

Guster - Ganging Up on the Sun (CD cover design)

Notes:
1. Guster ... good band. I'd also like to recommend "Keep it Together."
2. I'm also designing the rest of the CD case, so more to come I suppose.
3. Don't worry. I'll stop posting eventually once I finish my website. Until then, you're going to have to cope with this zombie of an art thread.

More to come to your misfortune.

Blast to the Past

"Charging"

Notes:
1. This piece is over a year old and in poor condition as I constantly disrespect it by beating it up and stealing its lunch money.
2. There does happen to be a tad bit of FLCL influence here, but at the time it was made, I had not actually seen the anime or read the manga only seen the character briefly.
3. This was another experiment in mixing photography with drawing that I delved into while in high school.
4. Please excuse the glare. Bad photography on my part.
5. Once again, please escuse the file size of this thread. The piece is probably also hard to see in some areas. It is actually 12 x 32 or something like that.

Refresh.

"The Sun and the Moon"

More work in juxtaposition. This was actually made to replace the last one because the last one was deemed "redundant." Yep, I agree. I'm thinking I might just remove the text and that'll be that.

Anyway, this last piece turned out really well in my opinion.

Notes:
1. The colors are a bit off. There's a tad more shade of purple over most things blue that doesn't show up online.
2. I seriously love this piece.
3. "The Sun and the Moon" by Mae.
4. Sorry 'bout the size, but I didn't want to make it any smaller than tihs.
5. Enjoy and I'd love some criticism.

Just some eye candy. I might tweak it a tad within the next few days, but for now, it's done.

"Amsterdam"

It's a little work in Juxtaposition. It turned out better than I thought it would.

Comments, criticism, whatever ... if you want, I suppose.

Notes:
1. You just might recognize that the words are actually a chorus from a Guster song ... and yes, the song is called "Amsterdam."
2. I'm telling you: music is currently my best source of inspiration at the moment.

I like the randomness. Well, I don't know if it was planned to look random, but I like it

Seriously, you need to start a comic series and an art gallery

And then on the fifth-page, the Lord said that there would be a bump in the night!

'sup guys? Nothing much has happened to me as of late except a ton of pencil work and a bushel of artwork. Here's the latest dose of four pieces. Three in a series and then a third to finish one up.

"Apathetic Way to Be"

This first of a series got me going into a few Ecclesiastical ideas going on in my mind ...

"Mechanical Hands are the Ruler of Everything"

Second ... turned out decent ... same premise ...

"When Finally Set Free"

And finally the third ...

A few Notes:

-All the people are self-portraits. Me in my best light ... blue.
-All hands belong to my friend.
-All titles are songs and that's where a lot of influence came from. Bands include Relient K, Tally Hall, and Copeland respectfully.
-The main influence on all pieces besides the biblical book is Tally Hall's "Spring and a Storm". Brilliant song, enjoy it quite much.
-The actual size of these pieces is about ... just put them in proportion against a wall ... that big.

And then the last piece to finish an already begun series.

"Observational Camera"

A tad on the large side, I know, but I didn't want to bring down the quality too much more.

If you want a closer look at the image inside the camera:

That actually took me longer to make than everything else in that silly picture. I'm happy with that though.

A few Notes:
-characters include the classic four: Teddylot, Zap, Twister, and May.
-Actual size about 12x16.
-Goes hand in hand with previously posted "Observational Spoon" and "Observational Games"

You're very good at choosing the right color to give your characatures presence with the backgrounds. I see your style of drawing involves alot of loose gestural techniques. Reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes or something I'd see on the funny papers.

DOUBLE POST!!!

Last two for the AP:

Cover Me

and

Storytelling

I dunno why I bother.

EDIT: And that seals the year off with 24 art pieces finished total. Four of which within the last few days around the wee hours of the morning when I really ought to be studying for those blasted APs.

Totally worth it.

Re-con-struct ACTIVATE!!!

...

On the last episode, we left Teddylot on the brink of a cliffhanger ... and just to spare the theatrics, he didn't win.

Much partying enthused.

However, his next challenge is none other than the AP Studio Art TEST ... 2D-Design. And in order to pass the exam, the dare-to-be-awesome teddy bear must finish a total of six ... yes, I said SEVEN ... art pieces ... in three days.

Gee Whiz.

We will now monitor his progress.

Can't see exactly what's going on? Don't blame you. The lineart ... seen below:

... is actually going to be printed on vellum (kind of like tracing paper, but not wimpy) and then placed overtop of the image to get a pretty sweet effect.

The original picture's kind of bland (what you see_ and I wanted it to have a bit more awesome, so I upped the contrast a tad in order to give off an angelic glow to the overall picture ... Also, once the vellum's placed overtop of it, you'd be able to see the picture underneath quite easily.

Update ... coming soooooooooooooooooooooon.

Super-tiny update ... ATTACK!!!

I'm finishing up the last piece I can finish before the competition adjudication on thursday. They're going to stick us in a little room during school and wait until everyone finishes their interview ... with sixteen people, (which is double the usual amount of participants this year) it might take a while.

Wish me luck guys. =o

I decided to dust this off and use it to fill up a hole in my display. I dunno if I'll be able to finish it in time, but here's for trying. =0

(Note: I won't be able to show you the final product 'cause it's not going to be completed on the computer ... however, I might end up taking a picture of my display ... just for you guys.)

EDITO: Or I might just leave it as I have it right now:

You think so?

The only piece that I could relate to Vinnie's work is the one I showed you ...

Wait there's more ...

Just a tad more ...

Soooo, yeah ... it's the only one that I see Vinnie's influence in ... and it just so happens that I made this piece before ever hearing of him. =o

But yeah ... his influence will probably show up a bit more now that I have a flash project in the works.
