Yes, you can easily make a code that throws an invalid instruction/memory access into a common routine and wait. I made one once, don't think I have it anymore though. But there's really nothing special about this "menu", it's just an error report... |

I wonder if this can be turned into a Gameshark code somehow? Pulling out cartridges is an awfully primitive and stupid way of "hacking." |

I actually got the debug menu after randomly smashing the controller once. xD It was the only time I managed to get it up too, though it looked a little bit diffrent than the debug menu usually shown in screenshot. And I tried it out becuse the game crashed in Lake Hylia after I played with the invisible link glitch (Entering the tent outside of gerudo while on epona, then warping to lake hylia), oh yeah I simple crashed it by using bombchu's on the bridge while being invisible. The game didn't like that, and after seeing the yellow bar I remember seeing the stuff about the debug menu and decided to see if I could make it appear.
Anyway, you don't even need to do the crooked cartridge glitch to pull it off. |

WTF?

Where'd you get that idea? It "works" anywhere. Though "works" may not be the correct word, because this so-called secret is what you get when something isn't working.
Yes, it's a detailed description of exactly what the system was doing when the game crashed. It means nothing to you, but if you were developing or debugging the game and this came up, it'd be a good resource of information as to why the game crashed. There are only three real questions about this: 1) Why is it hidden? 2) How was the button sequence found? 3) Why the hell does it say "I LOVE YOU"? I don't think we'll ever get the answers to these... |

I've known about this for a long time, and I've always been curious. I was playing Ocarina of Time the other day and it reminded me about this fun little page. It does indeed work, I've done it a bunch of times, but there's barely any info on the page about the technical reasons the menus shows up.
Why does the yellow bar only show up when you slightly pull out the cartridge in a certain way? Why does this only work in the Temple of Time? And most importantly, does the text in the menus MEAN ANYTHING? Thanks. |
