Or maybe they just edited down after the fact to what they thought was the important part.
One thing I noticed though, is at the beginning most of the audience is laughing at what Richards is saying. It probably started out as a joke. Maybe he and the hecklers were already trading semi-racist comments. But then he just went too far with it. On the upsides for Richards, he got himself back on TV. |

Someone on another message board I go to mentioned something interesting: No one else finds it suspicious that the whole tirade was caught on video from the start? OR that it conveniently cut off whatever it was the hecklers said to get him so riled up in the first place?
For the first one, it almost makes you think someone had it planned from the start, and that whoever shot the video was effectively in cahoots with the hecklers and expected some type of reaction (As someone catching it on the fly would have had to fumble around for their cell phone, turn it on, etc.). As for the second, it's funny that any and all context for what he said was removed in the first place. Not that it excuses what he said, but he's hardly the first person to fly off the handle and say something moronic he didn't mean, nor will he be the last, and with whatever led to that also being shown, it may help us comprehend why he went as far as he did. Just something to think about. |

I just saw on the news that the black men in question are now trying to sue Richards for cash. What he said was over the line, but this is no better. I have little sympathy for them now because they appear to be greedy and living up to the negative stereotypes. Just because someone insulted you should be no reason to sue, that's just pathetic. |

I think Kramer is probably a racist. I just saw him play a stereotypic black man in an 80's thing. Its on Youtube. Saw it on CNN. It's.....just so wrong. |

I've heard from an interview that he was asked by staff to apolgize to the crowd (Who recieved free tickets to the next show) at his next showing the following day, but he just went on as if nothing had happened.
If he had done something before the media was on his ass, I would think he was more honest about it. |

There is a possibility that he is not actually racist but knew what he needed to say to get to the guys who were heckling him. Perhaps in anger he he went too far. I can think of times when I've been extremely pissed off and said things I did'nt really believe just because I knew it would really get to the person I was arguing with.
But regardless, I dont see how it affects the show Seinfeld at all, what this actors personal opinions are has nothing to do with his art and whether or not its good. |

I think his apology is sincere. I've been watching CNN alot today and based on the few black men who were interviewed, I think the reactions people are having are a little dramatic. The slave trade era is over, black people have every right a white person has now. Who the hell cares about slipping the N-bomb anymore? I say it all the time, even to white people I know.
This, I would have to say, only proves that the oppression is not over. Either that, or the many black americans who stick to this way of thinking want special treatment because they're black. |

Now that I think about it, I have more to add
Nigger is used as a derogatory term, white people refered to black slaves as niggers in the 19th century. The term cracker does not really provoke people as it was not used as a derogatory term, ever. Whatever the case, Kramer is plain racist, he talked about how black people hung and that takes it beyond a joke. The black man yelling cracker isnt really offensive, I think. Still kinda hypocritical to call names. |
