Excite Truck does not use the sensor bar at all. It just uses the motion sensors inside the remote itself.

The sensor bar does not send any information whatsoever to the console. It merely provides an infra-red light source for the controller to look at. You can make your own sensors with casual LEDs and AA batteries, Flashlights, or even candle light. If any of you have Excite Truck, just tuck your sensor bar away somewhere and try to play. No difference at all.

The only function I've seen that requires the use of a sensor bar is the pointing aspect.

EDIT: As far as the unresponsiveness goes, Excite Truck is the isolated cause. It tends to "reset" itself after turning the Remote too far to the left or right.

Awesome. I think I'll buy that GCN Action Replay then.

For the Wii, is it REALLY true that the Wiimote is the only usable controller for most things, or can you use that Classic thing. (I don't own a Wii, obviously...)

So will I be able to hook Wii up to my DVI computer monitor? It's better than my TV, and since the TV is at the foot of my bed, I can't stand while using it that way.

Also, any support for the GCN BBA?

I've had similar problems with the first and second ports. The second is basically dead and it's a pain in the ass to get good mileage out of the first. And my bongos hate my guts. One works great when pressing the bongos and the start button, but the clap sensor is deaf for all intents and purposes, and the other is just plain dead. Thank god for the Wii.

I managed to break my GBA SP completely (failed to start, and when it started, on some uncanny framerate, according to Martin Korth, Author of No$-emus, it was a broken quartz).

Some N64 pads have loose 3D Sticks, cos of many hours of Mario Party.

My N64 controllers are great. I've been playing Star Fox 64, Zelda, and others on this and the old controller (the only one I ever used) is grande. Same with my old NES and SNES controllers. Gamecube just seemed to touchy to me....and my Wavebird died after 1 year of usage (no dropping). Odd.

I have one of the 2nd gen top-loading NES consoles. I am loves it. Hard.

My SNES still works perfectly... but my SMW cart has died. It still makes the little coin noise and plays the openeing music, but the screen is black and nothing happens when I hit buttons. Sadness. I'll have to pick up another copy sometime. Playing on the system is more fun than emulation, even if you have a decent usb controller.

Usually, but GCN controllers seemed to be an exception. My Wavebird died after being dropped. The analog sticks on my other controllers wore down so fast it's not funny. They'd decalibrate as soon as you touched them. Even my N64 controllers worked better (they were just really really loose).

Meanwhile, all my other Nintendo products still have only minor problems. The SNES and N64 have loose cartridge slots which is annoying but fixed by jamming paper in them. Gamecube's eject button sticks sometimes but just put something on top. GBA's buttons are a bit worn, not surprising given how much I used it. DS's L button is sometimes unresponsive, but it's been dropped many times. And of course NES is... NES.

You must have bad luck then. Nintendo usually has pretty solid accessories - hell, there's been several GB's that were nearly destroyed and still work.

Yellow- loose LOOSE control stick and A button.
Blue- Stuck B button.
Wavebird- kaputt.
Black- Loose L and B buttons.

And my current Wavebird is getting loose too...

Pardon me.

And I remember when Star Fox 64 first came out (I think) Target had a demo with the controller's Contol Stick clean off. And the Gamecube's buttons are pretty touchy. I got three that have loose buttons.

McDonald's has GCNs where you live?

Though personally I did find the Gamecube controllers far too delicate and I hope Wii is better in this aspect.

Could've been worse, look at the N64 controllers

Get out of here, fanboy. I may not particularly care for the PS3, but god damn it, if you paid good money for the PS3 and it fails on you then that most definitely does not serve you right.
Besides if you wouldn't get a replacment for a failing unit the customer agency would get on the case.

It's funny how much I happen to hate fanboys despite me never owning other consoles than Nintendo's.

This is b/c people who get to play with the interactive tend to f'up the controller in some way. That's why my Xbox 360 interactive is broken, damn people don't know how to treat things with respect.

My Wii is quite responsive. I was surprised at how quickly it responds to my movements, in fact.
