It probably wouldn't be worth it. He's already been warned, and there are still people out there who will undoubtidly be interested in this hack, more so now that it's been bumped. Just pray that he doesn't come across the Sonic Hacking Community anytime soon. |

A six month bump, for something that belongs in a thread on top of the forum... I'm reluctant to close the thread though, since it's such a good hack. |

Does anyone know where I can get Sonic rom hacks? |

You don't, you just use it. As I said earlier, since it was done with a disassembly, code was moved around, and as such an IPS would be at least as big as the ROM itself. That's why I didn't link =P |

How do you apply a .bin file? |

well technically the point of this hack was just to finally show that he was getting back to all the work he had lost, its not perfect yet and tails has hardly any tail animation for standing still(and other various frames)... just wait a little while this is just a preview hack. with alittle bit more pallet correcting, (which is technically sprite editting in this area...) this hack will be very good once its near its finishing stages. |

The colors of that big Tails artwork are fucked up, as if a wrong color palette was applied on him (I'm referring to the brown parts on his eye, belly, etc)... I believe that could have been avoided easily... |

This hack is unbelievably terrible. Buggy as all hell. I've walked in the air a few times within 30 seconds of play, then flew through some sloped floors as well.
Not like the well-made Knuckles hack, where the only problems I had were related to climbing up on certain places, due to walls not extending to the top. |

well, if knuckles and sonic could pair up that would require being able to make knuckles not act as stupid as tails, not to mention the whole how would knuckles get back to sonic thing, that would be pretty glitchy.
Yes the sonic hacking area is very much alive, but now hacks are expected to have ASM now. stephens project chaos... that looks freaking awsome. |

Find me a way to stick Sonic inside of Ristar (similiar dev team... very similiar) and you'll be the king of the universe. Originally I beleive Ristar was supposed to be a sequel to... something. It uses a few distinct sounds from Sonic & Knuckles (possibly the same in Sonic 3). |

You know what I'd love to see? A hack that changed what characters pair up in Sonic and Knuckles. It would be cool to see, for example, Knuckles and Tails together. At any rate, good work on drx's part. I'm sure my idea would be relatively trivial in comparison -- although, admittedly, my only real experience with assembly language is looking at it and getting a headache. C is about as low as I can go.
EDIT: Whoops, I posted ten minutes after reading, so I forgot it was drx and not LocalH who made this. |

I seen this advertised at Simon Wai's message board. Yeah, it's pretty cool. It's not perfect, but damn close. It plays like Tails should for sure. |

Oh, it's more than alive. More is known about the Sonic Genesis games than ever before, and disassemblies are widely used to do things that would be much more difficult with only a binary ROM to work with. |

Nice to see the sonic hacking scene is still alive |

drx, a well known hacker in the Sonic hacking scene, has created a nearly-perfect Tails in Sonic 1 hack. There are a few small bugs, but for the most part the game works good, even on real hardware.
I'm not distributing the hack here because it was done with a disassembly, and thus an IPS would necessarily contain a lot of the original code and data, and would also likely be just as big, if not bigger, than the ROM itself. You can get it from hacking-cult.org in the hacks section, however. |
