Even if you're less of a lunatic, you're still going to be viewed as an enemy of the community that you're targeting. |

Not that I'm saying Thompson is GOOD for gaming, mind you, but I do think he's less BAD than potential alternatives. (ASIDE: Getting political for a moment, I'm actually glad George W. Bush won the 2000 election, because it meant we avoided having Joe "Ban All Fun" Lieberman anywhere near the White House) |

Funny. I saw this right away on Joystiq the other night and KNEW he was going to do something. I want to email him so badly and say "KNOW YOUR FACTS BUDDY LOLOLOL" ITS A CUSTOM CHARACTER!

If you're getting UP at that time then pizza's still bad to have first thing.

You know, I think the Penny Arcade guys had a good point in that Jack Thompson actually helps gamers. Even a lot of people who take the same position he does realize that he's completely batshit insane and generally only undermines their cause.
In short, gaming wants him around as much as possible, because the person who comes after him may actually be competent. |

Someone needs to sue Jack Thompson.
MY question is why us gamers don't rise up as one and SLAY him. Although is isn't practical, some gamers can afford a lawyer that *can* and *would* take on a case against him. His suing and other antics are no good to the gaming industry. Somehow, he thinks that by suing us (I say "us" because the gamers are part of the industry) he's doing some sort of favor to society. It only hurts the industry and the economy. Most of us have souls, right? I hope? So, if we have souls, wouldn't that give us the right to choose what the fuck we want to play? Also, most of the parents have the knowledge of the ratings of these games, and they have their own discretion of what they want their (very young) kids to see. I'm sure everyone would agree; it needs to happen. |

Actually, the NCSoft case failed because Marvel really didn't have a lot of legal ground to stand on and made some mistakes during the process. Odds are they weren't going to win the suit, hence the settlement.
If Midway even responds to this, they could probably just cite that case and that would be it. Kirbynite: Pizza for breakfast? |

As I was sifting through my morning's worth of political insanity involving games, took notice to this recent bit of news. I read it through.. And promptly got up to make myself a pizza. I walked around for a bit, giving the home's African Grey Parrot some attention..
Then I sat back down. And laughed. And cried. |

Originally posted by Colin Other than that time that Marvel sued NCSoft. Still, as said in the article, a Wolverine costume is far more distinctive than a grey-haired man in a suit. Plus, NCSoft didn't actually lose that case, they just settled out of court IIRC, so I don't think that'd help Jack any. |

Where's the old Pong-up-the-ass Jack Thompson CAD strip when you need it?
Jack eats paint chips. |

Well, given the fact he said "You are commanded", I'd question that. |

Actually, I think that letter he sent was really polite. You know, considering the dredge he usually sends to companies. |

Hey, anyone else think Jack Thompson just needs to get laid already? |

The ONLY way he'd have a case of any sort would be if a character based on/looking like him was in the game. But that's not the case; he has no legal precedent to stand on here. |

Bwaaahahaha....suing because someone made a custom character that looked like him? That's hillarious. He has NOTHING, he's going to loose...*shakes head* |

...You know, by now it's clear that Thompson is mentally incompetent, so why not just strip him of his ability to practice law and get it over with?
And last I checked, to be a "Columbine simulator", a game would obviously have to include guns. Bully? Doesn't have them. |
