Nintendo sued Lik-Sang because Lik-Sang sold Flashcards and writer for Game Boy and Nintendo 64.
And I could understand Sony, if it really was illegal or moral not accectable to sell PSP's to Europe (It remains uncertain, if the PSP or PS3 are devices of hell or not), but It's a complete different matter to sue one company in many different countries for the same reason in the same time frame. On a sidenote: Phoenix Writh lost it. |

Well I can't blame you for not throwing out your existing Sony products. I still use my Playstation (albeit mostly for NES emulation) sometimes. Buying new products and using the ones you already have are quite separate. |

Regardless, I would boycot their entire product line, yes, games and all, if they were to get PA shut down. There's just some things you don't fool with. |

What was the point of that lawsuit? Sony still made the money off the PSPs. |

They won't. If Sony was ever to blow a system, Microsoft and Nintendo would pick up the gamers. |

Sheesh...
At THIS rate, Sony will cause the next video game crash. Sony has to do something REALLY good for me to like them again. |

Now get me some barbed wire and some plane tickets. Really I should try to contact the ISP, but I fear if I email them they'll just spam me. |

Originally posted by rubixcuber Yeah, it does annoy me that Nintendo would go after the supplier of a device that can be, but isn't exclusively, used for piracy rather than the actual pirates. But at least they were suing over sales of a piracy-related item, and just filed one lawsuit to regain the losses they claim to have suffered (whether they did or not is another story). As opposed to Sony's exploitation of the law to run someone out of business for selling their own product. Originally posted by Yoronosuku With all the BS they've pulled recently, you haven't already? I was never a fan of their products to begin with, and I completely stopped buying any Sony product after that rootkit incident. |

In the past, I have bought several items from Lik-Sang.com
The first item I ever ordered from them was an N64 Gameshark Pro for $30 - I chose Lik-Sang b/c they had a surplus - it would have been fifty in the US. Although it had great hacking software, my Game Shark was very finiky, and finally died after about six months - when I was saving the code "Mario 64 Everything Cap", my TV screen garbled up and when I reset all was dead I had also ordered a portable famicom (3rd party crap), of which I had to stuff a piece of cardboard between the cartrige to keep it from resetting. Oh, and their "Global Priority" mail system was sooo sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooww....... Once I waited like 4 months for a product to get there, although I was being cheap with postage. I ordered two items a month apart and a month and a half later, both arrived on the same day. But I did get my hands on a special little gem of a GBA cart: Famicom Mini Series #21: FDS Super Mario 2j Known in the USA as the lost levels, I got about as far on it as my fiance did on SMB1 - which is "not very" I believe the day that it finally arrived at my doorstep, made it all the more worth it in the end |

Play-Asia's trying to cover their own asses here and I'm not surprised. Better safe than sorry right now.
On the other hand, if they stop orders and Sony STILL goes after them, then there's no excuse. |

Originally posted by rubixcuber It is not a matter that Sony sued Lik.. Neither does it matter that Nintendo did in the past, that's all well and good for both of them. The "point" here is the -method- Sony used.. They filed duplicate cases against Lik in multiple different countries, effectively pinning Lik-Sang (a relatively small business) into a corner with an army of lawsuits.. Think of driving a nail into a wall with a cannon ball, that was the type of tactics that Sony used here.. they did NOT need to file the case in multiple locations like they did,. and Lik had NO HOPE of ever fighting all of that.. How "could" you fight all that? You'd be facing a lot of different types of laws and styles of lawyers.. and a very high - if not absurd - cost. Sony also goes on record to say it isn't their fault.. But clearly from Lik's statements, and the obvious issue I just listed above.. it WAS their fault. So they basically lied, full well knowing they were going to drive someone out of business. Now whether or not Lik had it coming with their "grey area" business to begin with is another story.. This case (or rather multiple duplicate cases) was filed on something unrelated.. The claimed reason for Sony suing was rather trivial, as I am sure most can agree.. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that Sony just planned from the start to snuff them out - since I doubt they even cared about the case itself, and just wanted the supplier out of the way.. Alastor made it a point earlier though.. Lik was a grey-area company and acted very spiteful in response to this, it is hard to say anyone was the good guy here.. But regardless, Sony chose some dirty tactics, and Lik was a very reliable supplier for gamers worldwide.. It doesn't bode well for Sony when you look at the full picture. |

Just got this off BMS
"Play-Asia restricting PS3 sales Posted by Keith - Mon 10/30 2006 - 03:45 PM Loserbait writes: In the aftermath of Lik-Sang's demise, Play-Asia is no longer sending any PS3 orders to Europe." There's an article in the link. Looks like PA thinks they're next. |

Not that I approve of what Sony did, but they aren't the only ones to sue Lik-Sang:

Hmmm.. Incoherent things, the left hand does not know what the right hand does.
Sony, if you will not learn now, you won't learn later. And I just hope that till March 2007, all European homes are fitted with Wiis and X360s. |

Argh... those f... a... I'm speechless. I can't think of a way to express just how much I'd like to go blow up Sony HQ right now.
This is an interesting quote, though... "Lik-Sang did not contest this case (i.e. they did not turn up and therefore incurred no legal costs). We have been awarded substantial costs against Lik-Sang which have not been paid," If I read this right then they've been awarded some crazy amounts of money from Lik-Sang... I'd consider that legal costs. |
