Wow, you did an excellent job coloring. Those screens look like they came right off an arcade machine.

With all the work you folks put into this hack, it really makes me wish i knew German.

no, i tried to stay as close to the original as possible.
of course its way easier to just redraw existing artwork instead of creating completely new art, gotta admit that.

Heh, I couldn't tell you were kidding... And I haven't seen all the BoF 2 artworks, so you could have drawn a few characters for all I know.

just kidding, dude, dont take everything so seriously.
ive stated numerous times that i recreated the graphics from the official artwork.
it wouldnt make much sense to include character artwork i did from scratch,
just like it wouldve been stupid if i sung the intro song myself.

oh, and on a small sidenote:
the patch got a bit of coverage in a german videogame-magazine.
i think i'm gonna scan the page in and put it on my website.
its more about programming on the snes, though.

still, i think that some "normal" publicity apart from the usual romhacking-pages is a good thing, not only for my patch, but also for the whole hacking community.

Didn't you simply "port" official artwork to SNES pixels ?

Reduce resolution, adapt colors, your removed his sword too, and voilà... but it's still not something you drew yourself.

Not trying to belittle that though, I know it's a lot of work... but I still wouldn't say you're the author of the art, that's a bit misleading.

I Just noticed that intro art is done by the artist that did some Samurai Showdown games. Neat.

Considering the large amount of changes done, the HDMA effects and, of course, the new intro song (An actual song on a SNES cartridge! Seen this only in Tales of Phantasia so far, what explains its huge size), the pseudo 3D effect, it really shines.

But I also have to tell, that, as close the translation also might be, there are some flaws.
Translating Japanese is very hard, we know.
The game is, as stated in the readme, very close to it, like "Medama gumi" for The E. Sludge, which got translated to "Apfelschleim". Also Bow's original name "Bosshu", which got translated to Boche. This is good on the other side.

All from that - very nice; but Cure 1 became "Verarzten" - what just sounds a bit too straight, also the initial Ryu's weapon seems a bit off.

I have to play further to tell about the quality.
But aside from the nice effects, I appreciate one: THE ABILITY TO HOLD DOWN THE B BUTTON! It rocks and saves a lot of time (since the encounter rate in some dungeons is very high).

the translation is close to the original - but maybe in some areas too straight. It must not be that bad as the German version of Seiken Densetsu 2, but some things might have had better alternative text. But in the end, overall I'm satisfied with this: Longer item names, full enemy names as well (I especially like that small character enemy name font). Great work!

And the point in that would be?

The GBA version uses the exact same crappy translation as the original SNES version.

I must admit I don't really like to have to go through like 3-4 screens that say "Blabla made by d4s", as that just seems too much to me (and makes you look egotistical )... I'd have just kept the picture of your team with the little characters, and kept all the details of your work for the ending credits...

Otherwise, impressive work. The vocals are of surprisingly good quality.
I'm afraid you may have missed some bugs by rushing the release though...

Awesome job there, d4s. I thought this wasn't a SNES game when I first played it but I've to admit. It's the best hack I've ever seen. Keep it up.

Ich hoffe du machst noch mehr solche schönen Hacks.

That looks incredible. Is there any chance of an English version?

I dont think this patch needs any further introduction, it has gained quite some popularity over the last year.

we went out of our way to retranslate and improve the original game, adding a completely new intro with a vocal song (keep in mind we're talking about a snes game here!) and hand-pixelled graphics, vastly improved textboxes and a 3d-overworld in the process.
the "usual" fan-translation stuff like VWFs, longer names for everything from items to characters and a translation that stays true to the japanese original is included aswell.

this hack is probably one of the most ambitious ever created for the snes, so dont hesitate to try it out, even if you dont know any german.
