I downloaded the demo. Played as Europe and beat South America. Good times.

Sad thing is, my favorite thing about this game is that it doesn't require great computer specs to run, which is a plus on this hunk of crap.

What is the reason, exactly?

Well, maybe not so obvious. Europe is pretty much the nation you want to play in 1on1s. Despite not having alot of water space, it can really have a huge amount of defense with such a small territory. Meaning, it can deploy a ton of defensive fleets and silos and nothing will like, touch it. Hilarious thing too is that anything heading from North America to Russia gets blocked off my Europe's defenses. Kinda hilarious if you're playing as Russia. But all in all, you got it going for you if you're gonna play as Europe. It's not a guaranteed win, and you can play any other country just as good But as a starting advantage, yeah.

If the leaked version is any indication, I'm going to buy the full version. The AI sucks alot, but you're not supposed to play against the AI.

(notice the political incorrect names... there were only two human players in that game.)

Oh yeah, you gain points by killing people, and lose by getting people killed. You gain more points than the opponents will lose though, so the game is biased towards killing than actually defending in normal mode.

Haha, yeah. Man you played as Europe, what hax. Everyone wants to play as Europe in this game, for obvious reasons. The leaked version was kinda cool, the full one was worth getting imo, was just playing it. We should totally get a Acmlms game together sometime.

Yes, some of the programmers from Introversion seem to love Wargames, as there was a reference to it on a server in their first game, Uplink. This game does look pretty interesting. It's definitely a step up from their previous games because of the online play. It's always the United States and Russia when it comes to nuclear warfare, isn't it?

I actually found out about this game a few weeks ago. I used to watch Introversion's work closely, starting when I beta tested Uplink, but they lost me about halfway through the production of Darwinia. However, it appears that Darwinia was a success and this game does look promising. I'm probably going to try both games soon again.

War Games is an awesome movie. I must take a look at this - as soon as I get home from work.

[23:39:39] New reply by Xkeeper (Gaming: Let's play global thermonuclear war..) http://acmlm.org/b.php?p=168195 (53/300sec)

First thing I thought when I seen this was "I wanna be George Bush!"

I'll look into DEFCON though, time wasters are always great.

Yeah seen it and it was pretty good. I thought it was funny when seeing the faces on the army or whatever you call them.

There, uh, are no faces.

There's a Foxtrot comic I feel this is inspired by (Battleship Nuclear War Edition), but their crappy website doesn't have it.

It got leaked before, and someone recommended I try it, so I did...

As fun as blowing things up is, I really can't get into this game. The whole sounds and aparrent joy in blowing people up just... no.

I want to like this game, but...

DEFCON: The game where everybody dies.

http://www.everybody-dies.com/

Has anyone seen the film Wargames? This is inspired by it. Yes, you get to blow things up with nukes. Believe me when I say this is awesome. The best 'Takes place on Earth' strategic game i've ever come across.

It officially comes out tomorrow.
