Posts: 7477/8204 Originally posted by rubixcuberI do not specifically see what is wrong with relying on five services instead of one service. Google does a lot of things that I use, like gmail and such. But for searches, I find Dogpile gets me more good topical results. Randy53215 |
Posts: 521/726 <3 Google, I saw this earlier when I was at ITT. And yes always hover above the image too see whats going on. | Tarale |
Posts: 2262/2713 Outside of Google, I'm afraid I haven't found that I can find as relevant results... I pretty much exclusively Google and have done so for many years.
| That said, they use Dogpile at my former high school a lot... I just don't get why; I always find what I need faster with Google... rubixcuber |
Posts: 81/356 I don't see how dogpile is better. I think google gives better results than the other engines searched by dogpile. Why would you want to be bogged down with the extra results? Maybe if you can't find something on google you could try dogpiling it and maybe find it but how often does that happen? | Cynthia |
Posts: 4686/5814 Google is <3, plain and simple. Even though they keep developing new stuff, the search is its bread and butter. And it's easy. | Tarale |
Posts: 2253/2713 You can go play in the Wayback Machine to see Yahoo! back when it was a nice clean simple interface, and searches were an entirely different thing.
| Google's changed a lot of stuff -- back before Google, I remember you had to submit links to search engines, and they were categorised a certain way -- and Yahoo! never added anything / fixed their broken links. I love Google. It's not often I can't find information via either it or Wikipedia Cynthia |
Posts: 4682/5814 Yahoo used to be very clean. Then they decided to change front page styles again... and again... and again. Each time, more and more crap was added. | Danielle |
Posts: 6061/6737 I hate Yahoo. It's so bloated and annoying... ugh. Google and I are <3 because of how crisp and clean the page is. | Cynthia |
Posts: 4680/5814 I loved Yahoo back in the day... you know, 8 years ago. XD Actually, I still use it a lot for sports purposes, but aside from that... | HyperHacker |
Posts: 3463/5072 Cool. I never really go to the Google main page so I didn't see it. | NSNick |

Posts: 429/970 Well, for one, we'd probably be 'yahooing' things instead. And that just does not sound right at all. Happy birthday to the king of search engines. | neotransotaku |
