Well I won't deny that. But I think you went a little too far with the "inferiority could be considered failure" part. It could be - but the context it is in suggests everything that is inferior is a failure, which is obviously not true - is it?

I personally do not cheat at tests, but I was merely pointing out that it takes intelligence to not get caught cheating. I used a simple comparison to an everyday activity to show that anybody can do it - but it is how they do it that matters. The end result is what matters most: a fool might end up with a clogged toilet due to excessive use of toilet paper, whereas someone else would flush twice and only use three sheets to wipe their hindquarters. Likewise, a foolish cheater might end up getting caught, but a cunning cheater might not get caught ever if he/she played his/her cards right..

I suppose it wasn't a very good comparison, but the point I was attempting to make was: just because it takes no cunning to do something doesn't mean you can't use cunning to do it better. Even though cheating might be wrong and immoral in your eyes, it doesn't necessarily mean only unintelligent people do so. That's all I was trying to say, really.

I don't do that. I stay calm about exams. Always. I just don't get worried about those sort of things.

Cheating is for scoundrels, and it does not require cunning at all. Any fool can cheat, such as idiotic ditzy women who want to be like Paris Hilton, yet cannot pass a simple sociology exam, have been known in my experience to copy other's work and to be so obvious in doing so that they are seen as pathetic in the most.

Any fool can go to the bathroom too. It's for scoundrels too, and does not require cunning either. Cheating is 1% cheating, 99% not getting caught. And like Xkeeper said, there are good purposes for it.
Good for you. You make completely disconnected conclusions, considering nobody here said going to the bathroom was hard or was supposed to be difficult, unlike exams, you know, those things that this topic is about. In any way. I must report a wtf about your whole line of reasoning. Continuing on, cheating really just makes you inferior to those who have the necessary knowledge to do whatever is being asked that you require cheating to do. And if I remember correctly, inferiority could be considered failure. So, we can continue these associative statements to say that if you cheat, you sir, fail in comparison with those who do not cheat. Take that as you will.

Holy shit, sprouty! :O I thought you ceased to exist.

Nope, I'm still around. I just write for 4colorrebellion.com as Mitch these days - plus, I'm working my way through college and chasing my friends (such as, Mesia and Kirbynite) around the world. Plus, I write for my own site, and was pretty involved in the SA Forums for a couple years.

Now I'm just trying to break my way into the video game journalism field. Doing pretty well, considering how popular 4cr's become. It's seriously mindboggling that my stuff gets read by nearly 50,000 people a day :-O

Technically, cheating isn't always bad, as even getting one answer can jog your memory of how to even do the problems (or you can reverse-engineer the answer)...

I've done botgh on math tests, but only when I genuinely had no fucking idea what it was (though I did check my answers after anyway)

Nonetheless, if you want to do it the right way, taking a test requires confidence, really. You should study until you can convince yourself that you are easily capable of getting the grade you desire. For some it takes a lot of studying, for others, hardly any. Take pressure off of yourself by remembering that it is just a test. There will be many more, and even more important ones, some time in the future. Whatever grade you get will likely not be bad enough to ruin your life. It is best to put things in perspective as much as possible.

"Victory belongs not to the strongest, nor to the wisest; but to the most cunning."

Remember this, Neo. When in doubt, cheat, but only as a last resort. Pick an unconspicuous place to put a cheat sheet: under your watch (especially if it's big) is a very good place to hide one. One of my classmates actually hid a cheat sheet inside his hair

In math or chem exams, writing a cheat sheet on the calculator itself is an unconspicuous way to hide the fact that you're cheating; this works best on TI-9x's or, if you're a cheap bastard, double-line scientific calculators.

Oh, and don't forget to write as small and ugly as possible, to the point only you could read it.

When I was younger, I had a small bottle in my pocket, which I imagined to have a PassAllExams-Potions. Drinked that and it went well.

Nowadays, I sit and hum myself some nice music.

What I hate about getting stressed about the exams, is that the stress tends to get in the way for me. :/ Although it's been fine so far.

That may be true, but...

I don't think I've ever actually paniced about an exam, you're either going to pass or fail, no sense freaking out about it, there are more important things to freak out about in school ("Is she going to dump me? ")

15 minutes? I would be doing last-minute revision outside the classroom, regardless of how much preparation I did. Better safe than sorry.

So, yeah...as of this post, I have a midterm coming in about 15 minutes. So, uh...what should I do to relax... This midterm is worth 25% of my grade.

although I doubt I will read this thread before my midterm, there may be advice here for me to use for my next midterm in 1 week
