I'm pretty organized, but it's hard to keep track of 7123 GB of data. Yeah, that's almost 7 Terabytes, don't ask... |

I'm having fun browsing through xkeeper's emulation collection

1 full 2.5GB HD and 1 not-so-full 17.34GB (read as only 7GB ) =
Mess. Try two program files folder, my documents folders split between C:\ and D:\backups\, half my work is in the backups folder... eh, it's crazier than the fourth of july fireworks wiring. |

I don't even know what half this junk is anymore. <-- My hard drive in one.
So yeah. I have things that I havn't used in ages. Heck, I found a year old mini-project of mine - A simple forum system. XD |

Mostly option two. I'm fairly organized, though I somewhat have a redundant ~. Instead of having stuff just plain in ~, I put most 'permanent' things in ~/Stuff -- more temporary things or non-global binaries go someplace else; maybe ~/source for compiling and ~/bin for non-global binaries. The fifth option doesn't seem like a state of organization per se, I don't know what half my crap is anymore, but it's still there in neat little directories. Sometimes I do some cleaning, but rarely do I delete things that I don't remember. |

I don't know where half of my stuff is anymore. Sure, I have a few folders for stuff that I care about like MP3 files or ROMs but for the rest of the crap I download, I put it in some random folder and eventually forget where I placed it. |

3rd option for me.
I have some general organization, but... if I ever need to find a specific file that I don't use often, I usually hve to dig around or just search. I have 2 or 3 folders that are designated "crap" folders, that I really should clean up... eh. But it's not like a disaster area or anything. |

Option 1.
Aside from some odd ball files that are wandering around I have folders, categories, subcategories, etc.. |

Without the search function, all would be lost...
Literally lost. My compy's so messed up, I tried this thing where I moved all the important stuff to C:/1, but there's so much I have no idea how to organize. Is there anyway to get Windows to recognize a different directory as the desktop, so I don't have to work backwards? I want my desktop to be a nearly top directory. |

For the most part it's decently organized, mostly my games folder, but I have issues with My Pictures (currently I extract screenshots, ripped backgrounds from Rockman ZX, random sprites and other things of interest to a folder named "New Folder", while My Pictures is reserved for actual photos). The Super Nintendo folder is a complete disaster, with incomplete copies of itself within it
ROMs are in the first "layer", while SMW hacks are relegated to the last, so it looks like this: Super Nintendo(ROMs) ->Super Nintendo(Random shit and some old hacks) ->Juegos Comprimidos(SMW hacks) And don't get me started on My Documents |

The drive in my room is fairly neat... but the one in the living room is a total mess |

I have an issue every once and a while with finding stuff, but for the most part I know where it all is. |

I have all my dll's in ome folder and all my data files in another *shot*
Though really I have things organized, minus a few random crap categories... It's mostly due to lazyness and that I am not using that file in the moment.... |

Very well organized... Though it wouldn't look that way to someone else. It's fairly rare that I have to actually hunt something down (and usually that's more because there's more than one place where it could logically be).
Only really disorganized portion is my desktop, where I basically just dump things until it's looking too full. Then I move the stuff where it should go. |

Organized as well as I can think of; ROMs, emulators, mp3s, documents, schoolwork (each class has its own folder), on and on I could go. I just like knowing where I put everything because having to search for things I need is just irritating to me. First option. |

Not organized at all, though way back in the beginning, I actually made some (mostly failsome) plans...
Initially, I partitioned my first HD into C: (system), D: (programs) and E: (data)... D: quickly ran full, so programs started going into "E:\programme"...E: quickly ran full as well, so I bought a new, 80-GB HD, which received the foreboding letter I: and, like D, got spammed with programs in its root directory. As for my other files, there's only minor local patterns of organization... like most emulation-related things actually being somewhere in E:\Emulate\ and about 80% of the music being in E:\SPC (folder name because I didn't really bother about anything but SNES music back when I thought this up; MP3s go into E:\SPC\etc); the rest is split up among the mIRC downloads folder, the Trillian downloads folder and the several folders labeled "junk" or comparable throughout my HDs. Yeah, as for those. Initially (like 6 years ago) I put all the stuff into D:\Web\, then I created E:\schrott and, with the new HD, I:\ramsch (both Schrott and Ramsch are German jargon that pretty well translates to "junk"). Those folders hardly have any subdirectory structure, I:\ramsch for instance holds anything from software setup.exes over a vast amount of unrelated to each other PNGs whose filenames are compounds of "lol" or "wtf" and a random number to a few Anime episodes. I:\ramsch\saves contains all kinds of flash and what-not I saved off the internet. When looking for a certain picture, I have the following folders to check, at the very least, besides the beforementioned: D:\Archiv ("archive"), E:\iisservices\* (back from IIS wasn't broken on my machine yet, public HTTP and FTP folders), E:\nticker\* (for everything related to my old school newspaper), ~\Eigene Dateien\* (my documents, I detest saving in there but often enough don't pay attention), E:\onlinespiel\* (formerly the directory tree for a browser MMOG I was coding, but developed into a dump for a lot of PHP-related stuff, including various Acmlmboard distributions), E:\etc\*, I:\coding\*; probably there are yet a lot more which I forgot about. So yeah, you get the idea. del /F /S /Q * would probably be a good way to put a bit of organization into things, now that I think of it. |

The files that matter, media files, I have pretty well-sorted but I do have certain things that could be held up a bit better.
And I'm definitely not one of those people that only has 4 folders in their root directory or some shit like that. |

It isn't really organized so much as I just kind of tend to remember where I put things...if that makes any sense .__. but I have a few folders of sorted things. I just recently sorted my music folder, I felt so proud 8D but theres still a ginormous folder of "Misc Songs" that are...pretty much just that. it has just about no organization at all |

Well... Id say its pretty well organized...
However I do have 2 picture folders... And this folder named "Random" where I just dump stuff... |
