Actually there is a way to have more than 2 info message boxes in 1 level. I've done it mulitiple times in SMB: The Castle. It just needs the use of a custom block.

I don't think your teacher would appreciate getting an illegal rom as a class project. You could get in some serious trouble by doing this.

The last five posts in the thread probably should have been in PM

It should look like that. I'm sorry, I skipped like 2 or 3 steps. Send me what you have in a PM and I'll fix it for you.

Mmkay. Download a tile editor program, preferably YY-CHR.

Open your rom and click the red mushroom button. Minimize the window and open your Graphics folder. From there, open GFX28.bin in YY-CHR. In this window, change the setting to 2BPP GB (Gameboy). Copy the letter tiles out of this YY-CHR window, and open a new one. Paste them in there, and save this file under your ExGraphics folder as ExGFX80.bin, or whatever the next number is if 80 already exists (remember to use hex). Bring up Lunar Magic and click the green mushroom button. After this, click the button to change the current level. If it asks you to save your rom, click yes.

Click the button on the far right that looks like a red poison mushroom. This should bring up the "Super GFX Bypass" dialouge. Check the box at the top. Click the drag down button under "BG1: (hex number)(random numbers)", and change it to 80, or whatever number you set your ExGFX file containing the letters as.

Now open the 16x16 Tile Map editor and the 8x8 Tile Map editor, respectively. On the 16x16 Tile Map editor, click "Edit 16x16 Attributes". Change each one of the four numbers to the tile number of the letter you need. Remember to change the pallette if necessary. Make this tile act like tile 39 (part of a goal point). It won't end the level, and Mario can pass through it easily. View the tile in the little 16x16 square at the bottom. If it looks how you want it to, right click a tile on page 4 or latter of 16x16 Tile Map Editor to set it as the tile you have created. Press F9 to save. Remember this. PRESS F9 TO SAVE! If you don't, you will lose all of your work. Do this for as many tiles as you need.

Sorry is this is confusing, it really isn't an easy process to explain. If you're still confused, go to SMWCentral.

1. Open the ROM in Lunar Magic
2. File -> Graphics -> Extract Graphics from ROM
3. Go to the folder that the ROM is in. There should now be a subfolder named 'Graphics'
4. Make a new folder named 'ExGraphics'
5. Copy GFX27.bin from 'Graphics' to 'ExGraphics'
6. Rename GFX27.bin to ExGFX80.bin
7. File -> Graphix -> Insert ExGraphix to ROM

Congratulations. You have just created an ExGFX file.
And it probably took less time than it did to read those instructions.

That said, last I checked message box messages were based on overworld level number. Unless you're planning on using all however the heck many overworld-usable levels in this trivia challenge, it shouldn't be too difficult to come up with a custom block to display a message and then switch level numbers.

.

I'm in 10th too. ExGFX aren't easy to work with. If it helps any, there are letters in GFX28. Just copy them into an ExGFX file and do the whole Map16 routine.

Cheers Chris.

Add more text? That would prove to be difficult. I think you should just try to work with Hyperhacker's idea.

More than 2 messages? Not likely.

actually a black background with instructions and choices and just 2 pipes and normal mario ground would probably be cooler than using message boxes.

you cant change the amount of text in message boxes unless you know how to asm hack that in

You could use ExGFX to put text in the background instead of info boxes.

Hello everyone. Is there any simple way to make the amount of information in the info boxes bigger. This is my dilemma (If you care): I have to create a game (Grade 10 Science) about ecosystems. I thought I could use mario because it would be fun to make and I would receive a great mark. Mario would start off on a level and there would be 2 info boxes or just 1..(if i have enough room) to write a question. The question would be multiple choice, A, B, or C and the player would pick the corresponding pipe to what they thought the answer was. The 1st Pipe would equal answer A...etc..etc...So since I have to put questions in the info boxes and then multiple choice answers....Is there any possible way to put more text in the info boxes? Thank you for your time. Cheers, Chris.
