You're welcome. He looks good in that underwater environment, if I do say so myself. (The seaweed behind him doesn't quite line up with the ground, though. There are bumps in the ground beneath it, and it looks like it was designed to rest on a flat surface) I'm not sure if he'll match up exactly with every game you're ripping from since he doesn't have black outlines, but I did the best I could to make him not look out of place in a variety of environments.

Thank you, Cirvante, for getting the names. Anyway, icegoom was so nice and created a Toad for me.

I also ripped those GFX from DK: King Of Swing.

Thanks alot icegoom.

I was impressed up until I read they were ripped graphics. Why? Because it takes no skill to rip graphics other than eyes and patience.

So what, are you going to teach every SMW hacker to draw really nice graphics?
No, but I am pointing out that using ripped graphics is lame.

(granted, done well they can work good, but for the most part they're only using rips so I can go "hey guys look i'm using ______ exgfx LOL")

I have no real complaints, besides what has already been said. I'd say draw original graphics, but I know I am not an artist, and I doubt half the people on this board actually are. They are nice rips, I'll give you that, and seeing how no one (?) has ripped from the DS, that gets a little plus effect.

One suggestion - ditch the HDMA on this screen:

Leave it like the screenie above it, as the background looks much better.

Anyway, I'm going to change the sprites, objects later when I finished ripping all the graphics I want.

How many times must this be pointed out? Seriously?

I'm quite aware that he said that, and I don't believe I need to be reminded. Those pics are new, so those may or may not have been the new graphics he was talking about. Besides, he said he was going to clean it up, so I gave him the suggestion so he could do that meanwhile.

Anyway, the rips are great, I really like the ones from Yoshi Island DS or whatever it's called. I'm not sure what its called, or if its even the right name, but still nice work. I could really use those BG's in my hack......
I agree that we're all not artist, especially me, hell, I can barely rip. I say keep on riping if thats what you're good at. As fancy as a game may look, poor level design can screw up an entire hack.

Now, I guess there's not really any point in me typing out this message, since we all know you're going to be changing the lol concrete block floor as soon as you find something more appropriate.

Right?

I really like it, but what are the ripped gfx from? What games? I know some NSMB, and a few Super Princess Peach, but one has a YI-ish style to it.
And the border on the YI looking FG's look too thick, thin out the border a little

Alright, here comes the title screen along with some others.

New title screen background.

New intro level, though I need to lighten the FG.

Ripped from NSMB

Some kind of ghost cave.

And a forest BG.

In the canyon-ish and grassy levels shown, I would suggest toggling the outlines of the exgfx so as to be a little less bold; Mario still kinda doesn't seem to fit in the environment because of it.

I can't say anything in terms of level design, so all I can say currently is keep at it.

Your graphics are really nice and they fit perfectly with each other.

I already started ripping your graphics though:

Seriously though, 1st, 2nd, and last backgrounds look like they need some adjusting. Otherwise they are awesome. the 1st one is plain, 2nd one is repetitive, last is plain (But i dont know if thats how you want it to be)

Also, I know ripping is not as original as using selfmade graphics like icegoom and ghettoyouth do, but not everyone can draw as good as them, otherwise those people (inlcluding me) would draw the GFX instead of ripping them, though ripping is still a nice experience for me, since ripping from SNES & Co. is boring for me now.

Sure, it's nice to import levels from other games and shit, but what real effort does that take? Then you end up releasing the shit to a "workshop" where any idiot with half a brain can use ANOTHER half-brained utility to slap the shit in, and call it a hack. Where's the effort in that?

Make some original graphics with those fancy HDMA effects, then I'll be impressed. You may have some original rips, but they're not your own work either way you look at it. It's simple work.

Kail is right, What I meant is that without the HDMA in the background the Rocks look like from a JPEGgy screenshot.
