Unless you're working on your own doctorate research project, anything you can say in a report is a rewording of something someone has already said.
Yes, taking an article and rewording it is plagiarism... but when you're writing something you know about and have read a lot about, it's hard to avoid doing this at least to a small degree in places. That's why I just always cite everything that isn't an inferred conclusion. |

Dude, taking an entire article and merely rewording it. That counts as plagiarism. My WRT-120 teacher many months ago was very clear on this. Taryn, your people must have been lax as hell. |

Yes, but it's really easy to change probably a few sentences around and the teacher put a 100% on it when the teacher your going to do this to is a raging alcoholic. |

Like me. I would copy something from Wikipedia, and then paste it in a report I have to do, and then put the article in my own words. They would probably try to check it and see if you copied it, but it would be in your words.
So, who wants to try it? I don't want my Wikipedia account banned, so I haven't tried. |

Well, it CAN be reliable for SOME things.
I've noticed that there's some fairly reliable -- if generic - information on a lot of computer related topics. And on a lot of TV and Movie related topics. Wouldn't take some of the stuff on psychiatry that seriously though |

I like Wikipedia, but you always have to be so mindful that you may in fact be reading bullshit.
Which kinda spoils some things 
As long as you only see it as a general "idea" of some things, it's fine. If you want to find out real information it's best to research elsewhere. |

I get that to. It's those linked articles. I'll be reading along, and a word will link to another slightly related article, and I think, "huh, I wonder that's all about". And I just keep doing that until I'm on something completely unrelated. Like I be reading about some 19th century poet, and the next thing I know I reading about the Cassini space probe. Sometimes I'll go to look something up, and I happen to see something under "Did you know...", and it will be another 4 hour before I actually look up what I came there for. |
