My job is only part time and not permanent, as I'm only 17... so there aren't any severe "consequences" with it. Aside from taking up all my nights (including weekends), the only real challenge is juggling it with school and homework and whatever else I may have to do throughout the year. |

I would never call computing "intuitive". I think a lot of the concepts are very abstract. But I am at an advantage having grown up with computers, I guess.
My Mum is good with computers, but slipping behind current technology. She's no longer passionate about the field of IT, so she's not keeping up with changes, new things, and such... Generally though she doesn't ask "silly" questions  |

I have to show my mom how to do simple computer tasks all the time. Sometimes it amazes me how someone can have used computers for works and whatnot for so many years and still not really have any idea how they work.
My dad is horrible. I'm surprised he can even check his email. He calls directories "files" no matter how many times I get pissed at him for it. Ergh. I'm not a good teacher because I get angry when people don't know something that I think should be intuitively obvious. |

Yep, I always have to fix my mom's computer too, usually because Windows has suddenly forgotten how to connect to a wireless network or that printers exist.  I do get paid for the tougher jobs, but it's not a fixed amount. |

Lol job!?!?  . I sorta don't want a job that's too much related to computers though.. because I'd be so tired of them when I got home and I sorta like sitting at the computer (don't want to ruin that ;P). |

I started my job almost three years ago (come this October). Oh, I swear, this job has put me off from having kids for a few more years. Its made me wonder how can a parent buy "Texas Chainsaw Masacure" for their 5 and 4 year old andthen you have a nother parent who thinks pokemon is too violent for their 5 year old. It just amazes me about the type of people (parents) that are out there and what they buy for their children. But that is a rant for another day. |

I might use the computers at home more if the network really worked correctly.
But It's Windows XP, where you can set up a network using the same steps 10 times and have it randomly work or not work regardless of what you actually do. I really need to get a Mac or learn some flavor of Linux... |

Oh, I got no problem with sitting at a computer outside of work.
I just prefer it to be not running Microsoft Windows. Or if it does; not to be running any applications that we use at work (so openCanvas is good, and Azureus, VLC and AverTV are also good...)  |

I actually find myself spending very little time in front of the computer these days, except when I'm spamming Acmlm's.
I never mess with the system like I used to. I don't upgrade. I don't game. I don't even check my email or surf the net. I just don't care for any of it anymore. That's why I dissappeared for most August. I didn't feel like sitting at the computer. |

The other thing I've noticed is that my 'hobbies' with regards to computer stuff have shifted. I'm now only interested in fields of computing which I don't have to support at all at work. So I charge. I don't care if they're family; I don't charge them much anyway -- just enough to keep them from abusing the situation.
Although my step-grandfather has worked out that it's hard for me to insist on charging for phone support.... so he tries to get me to help over the phone where possible. I like it when I have to actually visit... I get money that way. |

I so know that story, Taryn... I hate and despise computers because I always have to fix EVERYONE'S. I might get dinner out of it. I always say I'm gonna start charging $50 an hour even for friends and family, but I never have. I do at least require that I get parts out of the deal now, but still... bleh |

I do computer troubleshooting all day, every day at work. (I work on a Help Desk)
As a consequence, I now have little tolerance for such things outside of work. I'll do it if you pay me though |

When I was working at a restaurant, I had long hours on my feet and the quality of air wasn't all that great with the heat from the grill and poor ventilation. It ended up causing some minor skin problems. I also found a new distain for people who go to lunch on Sundays. Good stuff? Um... I now know to steer clear of restaurant work. |
