Sour milk....my worst fear. Every time I drink milk, I always smell it, examine it thoroughly, dip my finger in, and make sure it's sour free. Then, I drink it, I think it's sour when it's not, and then swallow it, and almost choke.

Yes, I've had sour milk that much in my life

I throw away my milk the day it expires. I am not going to take any chances with expired milk.

I usually don´t drink milk if the expiration date was more than 3 days ago.

3 days maximum. Then I get rid of it.

Well, if you keep the milk closed in a cold place then you should still be able to drink it if you open it a week after expiration date. Because the real "expiring" happens when you open the milk.

Haven't had any chunky milk for a good long while now. :\ We had a bad stretch a few summers ago where 3 of the 5-6 cartons of milk we bought were lumpy.

We switched brands.

I'm always careful when it comes to milk. Once, I grapped a milk carton from the school cafeteria and noticed that the sell by date was today; I got rid of it. I can't say for sure if it was spoiled or not, because I never opened it. Seeing chocolate milk go spoiled looks really bad. =/

Excuse me, but I think I´m going to throw up for a while.

I came into my apartment and something smelled like sh*t. There was no milk and I had cleaned it with water but it still smelled like sh*t.

Well the expiration dates are generally sell by dates, aren't they? At least, that's what my store does. They take it off the shelf when it reaches the expiration date. So... it should be good for at least a few days after expiration, right?

Im like... psycho about my milk... never drink it if it goes one day past expiration

Never had food poisioning (Milk poisoning?) in my life

Eh, I guess so long as it smells alright, and it looks like milk, not lumps, you are just fine.

I have some sour milk in the fridge that is a few weeks due. Don't ask why I hadn't trashed it yet... And for some reason, Ice milk... heh that's a pretty common sight at home for some reason. Here when i'm alone I hadn't seen it, but then I don't have much milk in the fridge and I consume alot of it.

Yeah, as long as it smells OK and doesn't taste "off", I'd say it's fine. As I recall, the date stamp is a sell-by date, not a use-by date. I don't really look at the date on our milk. Organic milk tends to have a very long freshness period, and I always smell the milk before I use it anyway. This is a habit I learned long ago at my dad's house, where we sometimes did not use up the milk before it expired. All it took was one instance of dumping spoiled milk on the last of my favorite cereal to make me learn to sniff it first.

It's not nice; I don't usually check expiry dates. I've eaten a few days off cheese once, it wasn't good because I was sick for a few days. If you didn't drink much of the milk it should be fine but it depends. If you feel sick the next day, then you will know why.

Sometimes there's a little chunkage in my milk... but it's always been just.. ice-milk. The fridge is up too high, apparently.
I make my brother test it when that happens. >8D

I have yet to drink milk that's chunky. I've tasted it when it tasted funny and then dumped it out. But I always smell to see if it is good when the expiration date is close. Otherwise I don't really like drinking white milk unless with cereal. I like chocolate milk better.
