LizardKing,
I like this bridge here http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bilde:IMG_0635a_-_Hadselbrua_fra_B%C3%B8r%C3%B8ya.jpg I like how it turns at the one end. Looks really neat. |

Where I come from, there's quite a good deal of bridges, and three of them are among the 20 longest Norwegian bridges, but it's not very impressive, since they are only # 19 (Sortland Bridge - it connects my hometown (Sortland) and the rest of Vesterålen to Hinnøya island.) # 17 Tjeldsund bridge - it connects Hinnøya to the mainland.) and # 15 Hadsel bridge - it connects Hadseløya island to Langøya island, which is connected to Hinnøya again, by the first bridge I mentioned.
Norway's second longest bridge Nordhordlandsbrua is not very far from where I currently live (Bergen), but I haven't lived here for very long yet, so I don't know where excactly this bridge is. I just learned about it now through wikipedia. |

Damn, big ass bridge right there.
We don't have any bridges around here though. Some dude burnt them all down during the Civil War. |

A little comparison (filename of the original hosted file renamed to abridge.bmp for convienence):
-rw-r--r-- 1 mike mike 1.9M Sep 1 18:41 abridge.bmp Notice even a real PNG is over twice as small as the original, but not a good format for that particular image. The JPEG at 75% quality is a mere 107K, about 5% of the original filesize and it still looks nearly identical. Attached is the JPEG version of the image, it might be nice to edit hte first post to this so that you don't waste everyone's time with a mal-named BMP. |

BMP doesn't make pictures look worse. It's the same as PNG, but not compressed.
Also you have to choose JPEG or PNG when you save the file. Just naming it image.png isn't enough in most cases. |

I remember hearing about that bridge's construction a few years ago, but I didn't remember it until reading the wiki. Pretty cool looking. The only big bridge in CA that I can think of is the Golden Gate Bridge, which Randy already linked to.
As for the filetype, it's the wrong one. When you save an image, you have to choose the type. .jpg is mostly for pictures (such as this one), .png is for smaller images. .bmp is a pain in the ass file, because it is ridiculously large in filesize and takes forever to load (and makes the image look worse anyway, 99% of the time). |

Biggest bridge in milwaukee: Hoan Bridge.
I though it would be art because its design. Kinda like CAD... We have some other neat bridges in milwaukee but there not big or anything. |

Pretty cool!
If that strait of gibraltar bridge ever gets built, it will be awesome. (10 miles in length and over 3000 feet high!) |

Man, I feel dumb!
I have no idea(seriously) what you guys are talking about.(I am very computer illiterate) Did I do something wrong? |

FYI, that's actually a BMP image renamed to .png. An actual PNG created is MSPaint from that image is ~1.2MB, though Paint seems to make bloated PNGs.
Either way, he makes a good point - as a JPEG (also in MSPaint) it's a mere 180KB, and looks just as good (since the original looks like crap anyway). |
