Just read all of the Lackadaisy comics, and I must say, I'm impressed.

I have too many to mention all of them, so I'll mention a recent one that I really enjoyed.

It's a webcomic, and the art is gorgeous. Lackadaisy. The attention that the artist has paid to the details of the Roaring Twenties, with costumes, lingo, etc is amazing. Despite the fact that the artist is quite talented at more realistic artwork, they have chosen to present Lackadaisy featuring anthromorphised cats as the characters.

As explained by the artist, they've done this because it allows them more expression than human characters -- ears, tails, and big eyes allow them to put more emphasis into gestures and expressions -- it also allows them more freedom to be a little ridiculous with things

I really envy the rich characterisation that all this expression creates.

Most of them actually lack some sort of notorius deep meaning, but I enjoy nearly every other aspect of them.

Will post the emaningful later...perhaps. ksgd9pfsgc

links only, please. I'll be updating this piece shortly once I can grab the URLs [I'm going through a few galleries atm]

I figure artists of all skill levels could use some inspiration. That's the purpose of this thread.

Some of these may contain mature content.

I enjoy these images most because it's where the demoscene started [included competitions with pixel art, going as far back as the 80's, there are some great things done with a not-so-great pallete and limitations]
[note some may not look as they would on the hardware [specifically interlaced images]; please download the file and view on either an emulator or the real thing if you wish to see the original image]

[Amiga]
Because it's amazing how well a piece of art develops when the artist has months to work on it, and 256 colors to use. While some of these may be direct copies of other artwork, they're impressive nonetheless.
