The mangaka had stopped moving for several minutes now.. and exhaustedly leaned up, righting his chair and clambering back onto it, before slouching down into his seat. He looked over to Rushuna, and gave her a tired smile, reaching over to pat the girl on the head.
MEL: < Ha, ha.. Thank you. You're too kind.. Rushuna-chan. > |

"< Ano.. Umino-kun.. >"
Rushuna slowly approached the twitching mangaka. Her head was still hidden underneath her hood, meaning she was still feeling disturbed and uncomfortabe. However, she still made an effort to speak to Melvin. The knowledge she had from reading all sorts of stories may have given her some insight. Either that, or it might have given her the idea for a somewhat dorky statement. "< Umino-kun.. I still think you're a great mangaka.. >" |

The next person in line to speak was a man with white, spiky hair, blue eyes, and large white-feathered wings. Before delivering his speech, though, he moved off in the direction that Melvin had just gone. Gutsman's eyes followed him as he gave Smithy a strong bonk on the head, causing the red reploid's arms to disappear completely. JD: Wha? That's me? Jack: Like Kirby, this isn't my original appearance. Run a pic of that, will ya? JD: Brother? Jack: Oh, yeah, Draco isn't really my brother. He's from an alternate universe. We originally considered each other different versions of the same person, but he's got red eyes and bat wings and black hair... And, in his original state his cap is red with white spots. So we decided that we were more like brothers. Anyway, Fem failed and both Draco and I were killed by one of those creatures when it followed her back in time. Obviously, though, we came back to life. That's because Fem stayed around and eventually killed that creature before it could grow up and come back in time to kill us, so we were brought back to life by the resulting paradox. JD: ... That doesn't even make sense. Jack: Anyway, while we were dead we regained memories of our past lives in Ancient Fungeria, and that's when we decided to change our names to Jack and Draco, since Josh had changed his name to JDavis and we didn't need the confusion of having three JDavises. I'd say that about covers things. *walks off* |

SMITHY: MY HAND! It's fading away! I'm being McFly'd! All eyes briefly turn to the mangaka in the back of the room. His chair sits upturned on the floor, and he lies beside it, convulsing rapidly and making spastic movements. His eyes are wide, and he makes random guttural noises, all evident signs of a seizure. |

There was a noticable time gap before Troy's eyes completely consumed the screen. He stumbled back into place in front of the camera, dusting himself off. As the Troy outside noted, he was wearing a heavy shell, its back covered completely by red, metallic hexagonal plating. A series of black leather straps tied diagonally upwards across it held it firmly in place. Clearing his throat, he started talking.
Troy's seat wobbled. He lied in the fetal position under the table, rocking back and forth. |

Agent F: "I'm glad there's finally an iota of cooperation among this assembly. Let's continue."
He nodded to Agent G, who pressed the play button on his remote, resuming the video. As Kirby returned to where he was previously standing, he motioned to a middle-height young man in a heavy, dark green vest lined with pouches and pockets, whose glasses shined softly in the exposure light of the video. The boy got up from his corner in the cell, adjusted his glasses, and stared at the camera, shifting his glance ever sideways, as though he were casting it across dimensions. It settled on the place where the Grey that inhabited this room was sitting. The young man spoke. Grey: "I'm Grey. I'm not from the world that this was filmed in... So that means that whatever happens here won't have any bearing on whether or not I came. That means that if anyone sees this, it'll be me. Grey. There are a few things that I have to tell you... Depending on how dangerous this new world is going to be, and how much of history may have been altered, what you've studied in your time being here and what I've studied may differ greatly. I just have one thing to mention to you above all else: Whatever you do, especially considering the world you're in, do not ever, no matter how hard you feel the temptation, no matter what excuse you can come up with to satisfy whatever sick, twisted kind of curiousity or boredom you may attain while being here, do not, repeat, NOT forge The Enlightenment. It'll only lead to more problems, problems that this world doesn't need to have on it. I don't know if Troy will be there or not when this video arrives, and I don't even know how he got to be on that world in the first place. But you might, and just that knowledge alone should keep you from any kind of serious temptation. If you do it, though... Well, your journey's gonna get a whole lot harder, especially for him." He looked to the side of the camera. "I'm done. Ganbatte, guys. Anyone else got something to say?" He stood up and paced to the background, resuming his previous state of being huddled in the corner of the cell, watching and waiting. The Grey in the room with the rest of the viewers just nodded, and grimaced slightly... |

Troy strained his eyes as he stared into the TV screen. The image was blurred slightly in its paused state, but he could make out a figure very similar to his standing in place fidgeting. There was obviously a queue ready to make their statements on the recording.
Troy : Are you trying to say that all these people... and all of us... we're... they're... but I... well, just look at that guy, he looks like me, but that shell's only given to the royal guard where I come from! I only just joined the main ranks in the military there weeks ago, there's no way I'd be able to jump that far ahead in position that fa... well, that is, unless I somehow did some giant service to someone of higher rank than me... *shiver* ...let's just keep going, this is giving me the creeps but I really want to see what I have to say... |

Rushuna's bared teeth slowly disappeared. Agent F had a point. Not only that, but she was just a little girl. The Yakuza would not bother with someone as young as she was.
She pulled her hood over her head. She sat down in her chair, and remained quiet. |

Agent F: < We ran your face through a very advanced aging simulator. This is exactly what you'll look like several years from now. If this is a dream than why would we be telling you it isn't. And if we were Yakuza, what would we want with a little homeless girl who doesn't even know her own past? > |

Rushuna leapt up to her feet, and slammed her hands onto the table. She felt a terrible anger surging through her blood.
"< You can't be serious! It doesn't make any sense! Even if this whole thing was real, how can that person still be me if she was born earlier? It wouldn't be the same person! And of course this is a dream. I wouldn't let myself be caught that easily by you Yakuza filth. >" |

Agent F: Pause the video.
Agent G nodded, and paused the video using a remote control he had had in his pocket. Agent F: < She's exactly who she said, Rushuna. She's you. It is as the man at the beginning of the video said, these are people from an alternate history who went back in time to try to find some information on the device known as the "Star Door" and accidentally changed history in the process. From what is said later in the video, they left from sometime during this year, so it would seem you were born several years earlier in that timeline than in this one. This isn't a dream, Rushuna. This is real. > |

Rushuna was slouching in the back of her chair, with her arms crossed. There was a bit of irritation drawn on her face.
"Ehhhhh.. < I was dragged into some kinda screening for a movie? It's cool and all, but I'm not in the mood for watching something like this. I thought I was gonna find stuff about myself, not some metaphorical philosophical junk caused by a touching movie. >" A man, wearing a blue jacket, a white shirt, and a pair of jeans that were whiter than JDavis's, stretched for a moment before approaching the "camera". Some features on the man were more apparent as he got closer: A blue bandana was tied around his forehead and covered by dark red spikes of hair. "< What is this? A rip off of Starfy? Come on, I don't know why my subconcious is delaying what I want to see. > The little girl sighed as her eyes started to wander around. "< Something tells me like this dream doesn't have any real hidden memories.. >" Kirby: Seeing as how this is for the greater good if we don't suceed, which is quite unlikely, it'd be alright for me to mention I'm actually a prince. My dad took me along with him during his visits to Earth. I liked it so much here that I eventually moved here with several of my friends: Rick, Chuchu, Gooey, Pitch, Nago, Kine and Coo. Mitra eventually came to live with sometime later. We moved to Earth sometime in.. late 1998, I believe. For a while, we hung out at this carnival place that all sorts of popular people hung out at. We made some friends like Jeff.. Usagi.. Ness.. Ranma.. Minako.. Paula.. Ryoko.. Rei.. At that moment, the little girl sitting unfolded her arms and finally focused her eyes, through her glasses of course, at the movie being presented before her. Kirby: We need to make sure everyone gets on this thing, you know. This was what the little girl was waiting for. She now learned she had a last name. Assuming that this dream was actually accessing repressed memories. Just as Kirby and big Rushuna started to walk away, the spikey headed man turned around and stepped really close to the recorder. "< Someone pause the movie! I need to know who that woman was! Is that my mother!? Is it an older sister? Where is she at!? >" |

General West ignored the further outbursts of Japanese. Now that everyone had signed the papers, he cleared his throat, stood up, and began to speak. Agent F, meanwhile proceeded to repeat everything that was said in Japanese for Rushuna's benefit.
General West: Several months ago a research team in Antarctica found the ruins of an ancient city. Josh Davis: In Antarctica? General West: Yes. Carbon dating placed the ruins at around fifteen thousand years old. Josh Davis: But the earliest civilizations formed around the fourth century BC... If these ruins are really that old, it would mean they were from the Stone Age. General West: Indeed. The scientists were quite puzzled. Furthermore, the way the ruins were laid out suggested some sort of catastrophic event being the end of this civilization. The structures were destroyed and strewn about unnaturally. Even more puzzling was how advanced the civilization was. The architecture was in a similar style to the Greeks' and Romans'... And most of the apparent technology is beyond even our understanding. JD: So why are you telling us this? General West: Well... Agent G wheeled a large TV that had been setting off to one side of the room to behind the General. General West: Among the ruins we found this. *turns on the TV* On the screen of the TV was an image of what appeared to be a robotic head. Portions of its colored armor had broken away, and, despite being quite advanced looking, it definitely had the look of being very, very old. MEL: Nani!? General West: The technology doesn't match anything else we've uncovered in the ruins. In fact, upon closer inspection... The image changed to one of the head dismantled. Besides the mechanical parts, there were things that looked like the typical insides of a computer. General West: We found modern computer components that were somewhat more advanced than what is currently on the market. Connecting what appeared to be a memory storage device to a computer, we found what appeared to be several video files, some in formats we've never seen. It took us quite a while to reverse engineer the... *looks at a paper* "codec" used to "encode" the files, but when we did, this is what we found... *sits down* The image on the monitor changed to what appears to be a prison cell of some sort. A man wearing a blue t-shirt and jeans, with blondish brown dome-shaped hair was facing toward the camera... or whatever had recorded this. JD: Wha..? JDavis: Though... Originally, I was Joshua Cody Davis. Well, to make a long story short, me and some friends, collectively known as the AF, who have saved the world several times over... We sort of came back in time to try to find some long-lost info on this thing called the "Star Door" Josh Davis: This is some weird stuff. |

Grey: "< Relax, Rushuna. Everything will be answered, in time. I've been waiting for this for a long time, myself... >"
Grey stood up, having discreetly signed his life away to the cause moments earlier. He knew from the beginning that even with his refusal it was inevitable that he'd be wrapped up in this mess somehow. What he'd find out, of course, he didn't dare to stare into. By policy, Grey tried not to look too far into the future: It made things very boring. But in this situation, especially with a girl like Rushuna involved, he couldn't resist just a peek. He had stared, he admitted it to himself, but he made sure not to look too far. Not far enough to change what was about to happen, and certainly only far enough to give himself some information, so that he wouldn't be running into this naked. For example, Grey spoke the language almost perfectly, with a few minor gaps in enunciation and emphasis here and there. He tried to fit in with the rest of the crowd, but unlike him, they had all led (somewhat) normal lives in this world. He had crashed here a long time ago and lived in seclusion on top of a blizzard-filled mountain with Johnathan since then. It was definitely not what he was expecting, that was for sure... And he knew that the idea of a person who could communicate so easily with everyone around in such a frightening situation would make him stand out. Grey was alienated before Spork even knocked on Johnathan's door. Faced with this trouble, Grey wanted to make sure he knew what he was doing. It'd be very tough for him to be trusted by everyone else, and that in and of itself would be debilitating. What's more, a single seed of doubt might very well send the entire endeavor spiraling apart. Maybe that was why the agents were so apt to allow people to refuse to help... Even if it did mean taking them by force later on. "< It kind of sucks, actually. I know who everyone in this room is, but none of you know me. Maybe this will fix that. I do look forward to getting to know you all better. >" |

Rushuna did not hear what Josh said. Well, she might have, but she did not care. Agent F had struck the right chord. 'A repressed memory, maybe?', she thought. 'I might have to thank that store guy for having that bad pocky in stock..'
The girl walked towards the table. She pulled down her hood, and brought out a fancy blue pen she had tucked away inside her hoody sweater. Her physical "oddities" should be now obvious to the rest of the room, assuming the ruckus she caused brought some attention. "< Okay, I'll sign. I want some questions answered.. >" |

Agent F: < We didn't choose you for this. It just happens to concern you. If you go along, not only will you see some interesting things, you might have some questions of your own answered. Questions about yourself... >
Josh Davis: < If the girl's too much of a scardey cat to go along with it, let her go. > |

Rushuna was quite conflicted now. If she signed away, it could be a trap, and some icky thing could scare her back to reality, and she would then have to deal with the disturbing thought for a few hours. On the flipside, she would be released into where ever they were, and she could see the sights, free of that stupid place she is forced to call home. But what if she was in the middle of nowhere? Or what if she was actually in the basement of that scary building by one of the shady bars...?
"< You stupid meanies! Why do you have to bring me along? What do you want with me!? >" She turned around and began hopping. And hopping.. and hopping.. Trying to take off into the air... |

Minako: < If this is all a dream, then what do you have to lose? >
Josh Davis: You're just getting impatient, aren't you? Minako: A little. |

Rushuna shot a glare at the woman who was addressing her.
"< I don't trust anyone in suits. A black suit means you're trouble, and I don't think it's any different in my dreams. >" The little girl then finished her words with a tounge being stuck out. |
