There are no local comic shops. The best I can do is Animé North once a year and they never really have a lot of music there. (Ironically, the music they played during the rave was some a lot of the best I've ever heard. Any info as to what those songs were called would be appreciated, heh.)

Good luck on that front. The closest thing I can think of is eMusic, but they're subscription. Besides, requiring JPop pretty much rules out everything.

I could tolerate a subscription, but I looked and they didn't have anything.

Go to the comic fest or order from a local comic shop if you want J-pop.

Also, try to order them used. Trust me, it is a lot easier. I routinely imported music not so long ago.

I'm looking for an online music store with several specific properties... haven't had any luck. Anyone know of one?

Things that it MUST have:
  • Good selection of JPop. None of the stores I've found yet have any. Even if the site is in Japanese, I can at least try to stumble my way around. Music from other countries would be a bonus.
  • No DRM! Even if it costs more to download the non-crippled versions. MP3 is fine, OGG or Vorbis is better.
  • Payment by credit card, not Paypal. Ideally none of that contract crap either; just pay 20 bucks and I can download 20 bucks worth of music whenever I feel like it. I could live with a monthly fee system, but I'd like to avoid it.
  • Must serve Canadians. Obviously it'd make no sense for a store selling downloads not to, but that hasn't stopped some.

Other things I'd like to see (but don't require), from most to least important:
  • Previews of the song; download a 30-second clip or something. I'd like to know what I'm getting without having to pirate a copy first.
  • Good speed.
  • Album art.

I'll probably add to this list later.
