Don't bother. There is no other way than capping it, by whatever means. Are you using a router? You could try limiting her download/upload without ever telling her you did it, lol.

capping is not an option. I don't have a good enough reason to do so my mom says even if it is for an hour or two, nope.

i'll check out that program.

Throttle? You can't when someone else is using most of the available bandwidth. What you could do, though, is ask for your mother to cap her download/upload rate for Bittorrent.

If your router (assuming you have one) supports it (I haven't seen one that doesn't), you could also set a cap through the router's web interface, located at 192.168.1.1 by default. You could even just limit her without telling her, if you so wished. :p

Is there a program I can use, that can control how much data a computer can receive? My mom actively downloads using Bittorrent. As a result, playing online games is a drag because my ping is worse than it is for 56k So, is there a way I can throttle how much information is received?
