It is much better then MvDK, I had a friend who had this way back when. I downloaded it last year and beat it, definatly one of my favorite usage of a week of gameplay in my life.
Great game, would be nice if it could be hacked. I did try to find data months ago, but didn't find anything... |

Well, obviously you can't get all 3 items in any level because any bonus sequence just wastes time. I don't really know if you can manipulate luck, but there's probably all sorts of exploits that can be used... |

I've watched some of this speed run and it's pretty damn awesome. He skips the items which speeds up time, but I didn't even think about some of those routes.. |

And as I said before the board went down, DK sounds like a great game to do either a TAS or a legit run of simply because there's a lot of different ways you can beat certain levels... depends how creative one is. |

The current record for Donkey Kong ('94) is 1:16:18, but it's not a TAS.
But if someone does a TAS, please do not use the SGB emulation, as it lacks many SGB-Specific things (like the hole SNES-Part except the colours and borders). Talking about GBS, GBS-Players are really flawed, no GBS player plays Donkey Kong correct. |

That was one of the few games, back in the day, that I bought right after it was released. I'm still waiting for a TAS of the entire game. I've beat it myself in about an hour and a half just to verify something for Drag (i.e. the GBS system in it). |

I completely forgot about this game. I remember playing it with my Aunt's Super Gameboy back in the day. It was definitely impressive, I'll have to look out for this and a Super Gameboy for myself. Definitely one of the best Gameboy games out there.
And yeah, its probably better than MvDK. |

Right, I'm playing through this one again now. I'm at the ship right now.
Wow. I forgot about many of the worlds in this game - I think Airplane was my favourite one. Yet at the same time, the single most frustrating. |

This bug is nothing new, you can easily reproduce it during the final battle while standing left and wait or run. A Jump and your out there.
I had the most problems with the egypt levels. And graphical its badical for gameboy. |

And just now, I've made it to the Tower. I may beat it tonight if I feel like mustering the effort. I don't really feel like gaming right now for some reason, though.
EDIT: I found a glitch! Somehow, when tossing a barrel, falling at the ground, and having shockwaves be sent through the level on the final boss, you can go a tile into the ground. I was running around with Mario's head barely showing, then jumped out and was fine. |

One of the first games I ever had (Kirby's Dreamland was THE first). I love this game so much, MvDK does NOT compare, at all, to this game. It just dosn't...this game expands on an old classic and makes it fun. And that's what gaming is all about, is having fun--you will with this one |

eBay it or... swipe it.
If you liked MvDK then you'll really enjoy this. Same type of gameplay, more/harder levels. |

It is much worth it. Definately better than Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, in just about anybody who has played both's opinion.
And if you want to make sure you'll enjoy it, there's a different way to get games, as I'm sure that you know, just for a test of a level or two. It's definately my favorite original Gameboy game. |

I have never played this game, but I enjoyed MvDK. Am I to take it from this thread that it is worth getting? I can always ebay it |

SGB version had color. Not a lot but better than black and white.
I just picked it up again thanks to this thread. Up to 3-1 already. |

Had the game way back when...
Beat it... Put it away... Decided to play again... Found out I lost it D: Picked up MvDK the other day... Now I should really go and get the ROM to play again. It was such a good game, despite the lack of color |

I'm sure one of the later levels in World 8 caused me fits for a good week or so before I figured out the sequence. World 7 as well.
I can't promise that everyone will enjoy the game, but if you like a challenge then you're going to like it, that's all I can say. (Of course, the same would apply to a game like Lolo, but...) |

The final boss (DK) is so so awesome.
I remember playing this game constantly back when I was younger. I was stuck on 3-1 (the ship, I think) for literally about 2 years (no joke, i seriously was stuck on it for at least 2 years). Then I suddenly, out of pure frustration, realised how to finish the puzzle by throwing the enemy onto the spikes, and using it as a means of getting across. That was the single most satisying point of all of my life. Fact. |

Right now I'm on Rocky-Valley (8-1), and I started playing less than 24 hours ago.
Anyways, it's a really great game, a lot harder if you've never beaten it before, and has a rather catchy soundtrack for something blasting out of just a mere GameBoy. I played a lot of it through a Super GameBoy back in the day, but my SNES isn't at my house right now, so I can't do that. It's being played on my SP, so I unfortunately don't have some of the extra features (Pauline screaming "HAELP HAELP!" and such.) |

That's the important thing - if the controls weren't as good, the game would have been extremely frustrating.
I mainly played it on the Super Game Boy and it was nice. The final stage (Tower) isn't as hard as the past few puzzle-wise, but it requires fast reflexes which is always a challenge. |
