D'OH. I apologize for posting this in the wrong forum. Thanks everyone (even you Kyouji) for the useful links to the desmume emulator and info on DS emulation.

Well, running things on real hardware without the official carts is useful for ROM hacking

You can get both Max Media Dock and a nicely-sized CompactFlash card from Best Buy; this is probably the cheapest and fastest way to run NDS programs.

no$gba also runs a few games like (yoshi touch ang go, kirby, feel the magic)
many games only show the title screen
and some don't start at all.

Sigh...There is an emulator that plays Commercial DS games. Only sprite based one's though, nothing in 3D. They all just crash.

It is a HUGE PC hog, and you need a pretty damn good gaming rig (Which I have) to get at least 80% speed.

Have fun!

EDIT: Get NDeSmuME, I just tried it, and it is running Super Princess Peach at full speed! (Still no sound however)

I can tell you this, I'll take a long time until you will be able to play comercial roms on an emulator. Just buy yourself a flash card if you want to play that bad.

DS emulation isn't perfect, and there aren't any DS emulators out there that are going to work with everything. Most likely you're just trying to emulate something that's not yet, uh, emulated.

I know there's Nintendo DS Emulators out there, but the ones I download never works. Can someone tell me a good emulator to use for DS roms? (notice I asked for an emulator, not a ROM)
