It's been some time since either of them have tried to open a ROM while logged into their accounts (I usually stay logged on so my brother can listen to music), but as far as I can remember, ZSNES either just crashes or gives an error about a file / folder not being able to be read or written. It very well could've just stayed at a blank screen as well I realize all that uncertainty doesn't help, but as I already said, it's been a while since I tried it
I imagine if ZSNES changed, so that the ROM was unzipped into the root directory of whatever profile you're logged in as (drive letter :/Documents and Settings/username), this problem would be solved, but sadly, that's not what happens. As for your problem, I'd guess that either something happened to your CD either before, after, or during the burning process, or the ROMs didn't work in the first place. It's good to know that I'm not the only one to have run into this sort of problem though |

You know, it's wierd. I had a similar problem - I burnt a CD of ROMS, and put them on an old laptop I had. ZSNES wouldn't play the first...20, but it would play everything else. ANd my weren't zipped, but good SMC files. They worked on the normal machine as well.
Sadly, I think it's a bug in ZSNES...I could be wrong, however. Does it load up the ROM, but all you get is a blank screen? |

Two threads within 10 posts. I'm doing well
Anyways, a couple months ago now, I moved all the ROMs on my computer to the shared folder, so they could be accessed by my brother and sister if they wanted to play them, as their accounts are limited. They're all zipped, just to save whatever space I can, which works fine for every emulator except ZSNES, for some odd reason. I think it's because it tries to unzip them to a folder in the directory the ROM is in (I think it's called zziptmp), and the Shared Folder as well as any subdirectories in it are read-only for anyone not using an Administrator account. What I'd like to know is, is it possible to somehow change the attributes of the SNES folder so that anyone can play the ROMs contained in it? I imagine it would be, but I don't know how to go about making the change I've already tried opening the folder properties window for the SNES ROMs folder, and unchecking "Read-Only", but it never works. In case you need to see the directory structure, a picture of it can be found here. I couldn't think of a reason to include the rest of the folders, but I suppose it's better to do so, rather than find out after posting this that I should've. You can just ignore the Shared Music, Pictures, and Video folders, as they haven't been touched since we got the computer. I realize a simple solution to this would be to just give every account administrator privledges, but right now, that's a last resort Thanks if you can help |
