The old Make-a-movie-about-an-old-tv-show trick. Seems like a bad idea but they keep doing it. Thumbs down. Get Smart is classic; Inspector Gadget is great; Mel Brooks is (at least was) a very talented writer. I hope the movie is more than simple tricks and nonsense but so far Steve Carell has only played moderatley high-strung completely oblivious nearly emotionless characters. At least he looks like Maxwelll Smart a little. |
