The movie was okay other than the approximate five thousand different story lines that they had by the end of the movie.

I really enjoyed it, any movie with jack sparrow, no matter how long or drawn out, is going to be a good movie, it's a really great character..

I really hated this thread, it's the reason why I don't check movie-threads before I see the movie, a huge spoiler in the second post wtf

Pirates of the Caribbean was based on a ride? I did not know that.

I thought PotC 2 was ok. I like Johnny Depp a lot, but that's about it. I'm indifferent as to the release of the third one.

I still find the whole idea of basing movies off of Disney rides kind of odd. I mean, Pirates of the Caribbean was a good movie, but The Haunted Mansion was a bit over the top.

Excellent movie. Way better than the first. Although they still haven't mastered the skill of suspense.

Spoiler:
tags because there are people who haven't seen the movie yet.

Two things that have me really excited for the next movie:
-Keith Richards as Jack's dad(old news)
-Chinese Pirates!(Chow Yun Fat included)

It's less than a year a way. Waiting a few months ain't going to kill us.

I disagree, I thought this one was too short, even. Johnny Depp's part was as good as ever, comedy abound.

Great movie, I can't wait to see the next one, which comes out when? Next summer?

I heard it was supposed to be released sometime in May, but that may not be true

While I'll say the movie had some entertaining parts... it was not terribly focused and a little bit long. It's almost like they made this long disorganized movie that never ends (2.66 hours) with the hope that we'll see the next movie just to figure out what the hell happened in this one.

This very much reminds me of the Matrix trilogy and how it unfolded. You waited a couple years... saw a sequel and and had to wait 6 months for the next one. And each movie got progressively worse. I hope the Pirates series is going to avoid the same fate. I think it's a terrible idea to make sequels as lead-ins to other sequels. They need to be self contained . Empire Strikes back was done right, The Two Towers was done right... bah.

Um, they halted production because when they started filming the 3rd one the script wasn't even done. They gave all the actors a break, and filming was supposed to start again sometime this month and should be finished by October. It may have also had something to do with a hurricane, but I never heard about it.

Spoiler:
Barbosa was killed. They undid the spell which enabled Jack to kill him with the gun. But in a movie with talking shark people, anything is possible.

I'm curious to as if they finished filming the 3rd movie. I know that filming was interrupted during the hurricanes.

Spoiler:
I saw it a couple a weeks ago. It's been nearly a month since it came out in the US. I enjoyed it. My biggest question about the movie is how the hell did Barbosa come back to life? I thought he died in the first movie but I'm not sure. Maybe I'll watch the first movie again because I have it on DVD.

BTW, there was another Pirates of the Carribbean 2 thread earlier but that is nearly a month old thread.

I just saw this movie today, and I must say, it is most likely one of my favourite movies ever. It's been so long since I've seen the first one though, I almost forgot what happened. Johnny Depp still plays a good Jack Sparrow

Has anyone here recently seen it? It just came out in theatres here in Canada, but I wasn't able to go on the release date
