I should buy a guitar and make this... but I'd need to be able to play the guitar. |

Interesting that this game would restore your faith in PC gaming..its a rip-off of a console game. Interesting again that this game would restore your faith in PC gaming..Guitar Hero restored my faith in console gaming. I bought a PS2 specifically to play Guitar Hero.
Anyways, FretsOnFIre is pretty damn cool. Not because its lack of originality, not because of the included songs (God those are horrible songs..all 3 of em), but because of the perennial favorite feature for all games....."Import Song." From the very moment I shredded through my first Guitar Hero solo I thought, wouldn't it be cool if I could import my own....and then make my own fret thingamabobs. Everyone whom Ive ever invited to play says the same thing. Some pretty big and annoying bugs hinder the import song feature, but with some wrestling and persistence, I was able to FREAK OUT!! to....the Super Mario 3 Ending Credits Theme. (It was the first .ogg file I could find) Fun Times. |

Why would chords be impossible, all they need to do is invent a pressure sensative guitar whch can sernse what frets and strings are bing held down. It's more than possible. |

Originally posted by Bucket of Pure Hate God damnit XK, why do you have to go pointing out all the flaws in my logic? Chords would be impossible. Tuners can only discern the letter of the chord, not wether you are playing the full chord or not. It'd only be possible to play one note at a time... Without leaving room for the user to cheat big-time, at least. Damnit. |

Just realized something. If you had lost faith in PC gaming, why the heck would this restore your faith? This game is mediocre at best. Seriously how many people know how to seperate guitar from the rest of a song so it can be used in this game? |

It'd also require someone who actually knows how to play the instrument to design the game.
I haven't the slightest idea how the game would play, such as wether it'd just be certain notes or actual full chords. (PS: IIDX is a pretty popular game, despite having about 20 buttons to push) |

I mean, when it goes to it...DDR and such are fun because they simulate a normally very complex activity. Would you really want ORGAN MANIA (now with the extra 48 foot peddals and knobs!)? |

I have a tuner that works for guitar: You can plug your guitar into your computer, or run a microphone into your computer, and it will tune your guitar. Based on that software and hardware, it shouldn't be too hard to combine the two into a program that can demand a certain note of you and tell you wether you got it right or wrong. That's the very basics behind a DDR-style guitar game. Someone HAS to do this. It's too good of an idea to pass up. |

There is GuitarFreaks, but I dunno how close to the actual guitar that it works. I've never played/seen one. Phil would know, though. |

I was sorta hoping there'd be some way I could hook a real guitar up to this and practice with it. Looking at it though, doesn't seem like it at all.
I swear, if someone made a DDR-type game for actual guitar playing, I would be ALL OVER that shit. I would never put it down. EVER. To the point where it'd be unhealthy. |

Originally posted by Millenia But ITG is Stepmania. Anyway, if its like Stepmania, it'll succeed big time. I saw song edit, so maybe custom songs... |

Ummm, Guitar Hero. That's one of the rhythm games I've always wanted to play but... no PS2... heh.
Site's slow as hell but I'll try to download it. Can never have enough rhythm games. |

Kinda figured it'd be a matter of time before Guitar Hero got ripped off.
Stepmania did it nicely for DDR/ITG. |
