It hit me today that I totally forgot about Madden.

Not that it would have made either cut anyways, but for all the hours I've spent talking shit over it, I could have at least mentioned it.

Coin flips and drawing cards, however? They work just fine.

Yeah, it'd feel more American with just a top2 runoff, right?
It would feel more American with no runoff at all since runoff elections are ilegal in most juristictions here. I'll make the final poll tonight if I remember.

I see. And I've been thinking that it was only CGW that gave DE that award, because I first played the game on a DVD that came with a copy of the magazine; that free version of Deus Ex was called "Game of the Year Edition."

Oh, ok, understood .

And you're right, sales of the game were disappointing, which is a shame because its quality as a game was confirmed when it won Game of the Year from...Computer Gaming World? I think that's who it was.

Yeah, it was definitely highly acclaimed. The media seemed to praise it, but the people didn't. Pulled this from wiki:

I third the motion that there be a runoff, if nothing else than to just see who would win among the top 2-4.

I'm am saddened that Doom did not make it to the list. *votes for Super Mario 64*

I like Xk's idea with just having two of the final games up for a poll. Probably Super Metroid and OoT.

And who knows, like most polls people might go "Oh guess I'll change my mind" and pick a different choice?

I wouldn't exactly call 13 to 8 one-sided, but that's just me. :\

Sure there is -- just make the Final, with only the top two choices.

That way, people who voted for something else can vote for their next favorite.

I was going to say that this is going to be going until Friday but is there really a point? The voting is pretty one-sided.

My Fox is only defeated by Mario. I've yet to lose to anyone else amongst my friend group (when I was at my height of prowess).

Heh, Deus Ex is hardly a cult classic. And neither is Half-Life. It's just that nobody here really plays PC games, it seems .

I was saying that Half Life is the Final Fantasy of modern FPSes, in that it's widely known... and Deus Ex is like some sort of other RPG, in that it's at least as good (if not better in some regards) but not nearly as well-known.

Probably because it's an FPS that focuses on single-player and basically shrugs off multiplayer.

EDIT: A well-played Link could own an average Roy, but a well-played Roy should beat a well-played Link. Link is one of the top-tier characters though, so he definately has a fighting chance. I'm just saying a bias exists, not that it is horribly slanted.

Also, Gray called me out and he is correct for it.

Tough choice.

I pick SMB 3 simply out of nostalgia. I like Super Mario 64 equally but I'll give the nod to a classic.
