I have all the GB roms so I'll check out Godzilla.

I played Solomon's Club last night. I think another part of the "eh" factor comes from the fact that the levels aren't as big as in the NES version, so as a result the puzzle complexity takes a hit. But then again you don't need to visit the shop if you don't want to (and, of course, you can just spend the cash on 1-Ups and the upgrades).

- Solomon's Key (NES/SMS)
- Solomon's Key (Arcade; different levels/graphics)
- Solomon's Club (GB)
- Monster Rancher Explorer (GBC)

Both it and Lolo would be prime candidates for a DS port.

Solomon's Club was crap. Someone appearantly thought the original concept was too challenging (because hard puzzle games are bad, or something), so they threw in a shop where you can buy various items to help you overcome obstacles.
Stuck on a puzzle because you always end up having a fire between you and the goal? Go buy a fire extinguisher (or whatever it was) in the store. Yay. Money was spread around on the stages, but you could revisit stages as often as you'd like to pick up respawned money. Blah.

But know of a game most people haven't played: Godzilla for the original Gameboy. For some reason, someone figured a game where chibi-Godzilla ran around solving puzzles would sell better than a game where you destroyed cities and battled monsters. The game is somewhat like Crazy Castle meets Boulder Dash; Godzilla has to destroy all the rocks in a stage to make an exit (or multiple exits) appear, and then use one to reach a different stage. Rocks are destroyed by pushing them into solid objects and then punching them, but being a puzzle game, you must usually arrange rocks and then use them to reach different rocks, which can get pretty complicated at later stages. It's awesome.

Oh SHIT...how did I forget Magical Drop when I have Devil from 3 in my bio?

God knows NG overuses The World.

Magical Drop and Tetris Attack, my two greatest loves. Puyo Puyo Pop ain't so bad, either.

PPF is either great or sucks. Like, first level in the easiest mode I ended up fevering and getting two crown damage sent to the opponent (about 200 lines of Puyo). That's pretty bad.

And 15K isn't bad at all.

I'm going with Panel De Pon/Tetris Attack too. I get more and more near/into the 10.000s regularly, lately I scored about 15k ... that's nothing compared to Hiryuu, Xkeeper and Abused Rib, but every time I advance forward, it is great - now I slowly begin to see/understand that two minutes is really a LOT of time to score points.
I'm beginning to get angry if get below 10k - four months ago my average score was below 5k

That game simply rocks - and Puyo Puyo is great too; unlike in TA I have major problems with that "meeeooow" enemy (Poipoi ?) in Puyo Puyo Fever. Either I build up enough fever time to send him even moon puyos (what is not that often ) or he simply does this and sends me tons of stuff in his 30 seconds

I can't believe this game hasn't been mentioned yet:
Chip's Challenge
It's made me want to throw my computer out a window more than once, but it's still fucking awesome.

Tetrisphere was the win... Literally.

Agreed 100%. I wish I still had that game

Yeah, he definitely means Puzzle Bobble. Which is great as well.

Oh My God is a REALLY strange Japanese puzzle game... best way I can describe it is Columns but you have snake-like pieces that you twist around as they fall to try line up matches/combos. Takes a little while to get the hang of but is pretty unique.

Hmm... Bobble Bubble... Is that somehow related to Bubble Bobble, a game which isn't a puzzle game?

Tetris Attack and Puyo Puyo. Easily my top two. I'm pretty sure I've played a lot of puzzle type games that no one's ever heard of as well. I know Colin's the only one to play Oh My God! that I know of at least.

I wish I could find either of the last two Lolo games made... which would have been for WINDOWS actually. With weird rendered graphics and everything.

Let's throw some love in for Solomon's Key as well.
