I like the idea; if the conditions are such that you can drive at a higher speed without any risks, then do so. But given the quality of the average motorist in Quebec... no. Speed limit is fine where it is.

NSNick - That's good to know. Now I won't be quite so paranoid when going to visit people in Columbus.

Maybe they just need the money? (shrug) CT cops are pretty easy to spot, really. It helps when they camp out in clearings, but sometimes they can be absolute bitches as far as hiding.
The cops along that speed trap highway near my house are almost always out in plain sight. Sometimes I've seen them hiding on the median strip near the walls around the gaps in the strip where the road is a bridge on each side. You can't see them ahead of time when they do that, so for a while, I've been in the habit of slowing down when I come up to the end of each bridge. Luckily the one time I blew past one of these hidden troopers, they didn't care that I was doing 65.

Eh, in California everyone drives in packs at 100 mph. Forget traffic signs, they say. It's naaasty.

Awesome. Ohio should buy a clue from them. I-70 is wide, flat, straight, and perfectly safe to drive at speeds near 80 when the weather is OK, but the speed limit is 65, and I've been told that Ohio state police are incredibly anal about speeding, as in you'll get pulled over if you're going five miles over the limit. Needless to say, driving across Ohio is boring and sucky.

Wow, everything really is big in Texas. Look at the size of that sign.

They're not that strict, but they do have an inordinate amount of manpower dedicated to ... manning the radar guns.

Also, ODOT needs to its ass in gear and finish up all the damned construction on 71 so I can drive faster.

Pennsylvania has its share of 65 mph roads that can support higher speeds (e.g. I-80), but because traffic on said roads is typically 10-15 miles over the limit, the state police generally seem to leave people alone unless they're really flying or driving like an asshole. The only speed bait road I'm familiar with is a brand new highway I currently commute over. It's wide and relatively flat and safe to drive fast on...and it's 55 mph and heavily camped by state troopers. Feh. At least I have only five more days of that commute left.
