Version 1.0 is now released: You can get it from the DXOII hompage, here:

I've typed up the manual that will be included with the next release (1.0); for now, it's located on my server, if you want to read it, here.

...this hack has been worked on too long to let it die. So I'm stickying this so it can get some attention.

Does that answer your question? Also, this is a pretty nice hack. If I wasn't lazy, I'd probably download a FF1 ROM and play it right now.

Hello, my name is Super Metroid Redesign, nice to meat you.

Not stickied, plenty popular.

And lest we forget, sticking topics in this forum is lik eputting a big "DO NOT READ: " sign in front of it.

Tis excellent. Hardly even recognizable. If this had come out at the same time as FF, it may have been more popular. The only thing I don't really dig is the victory music. It seems too repetitive to be hearing all the time. But really, I'm just being anal. And it may grow on me.

Yes. The reason why it's not the final release is because it is still open for suggestions on changing the gameplay (if needed).

So, is this game finished? Could one actually beat it?

Unless other mods disagree, this hack has been worked on too long to let it die. So I'm stickying this so it can get some attention.

This game is awesome...everything is redone and perfected. Thanks Sliver-X and Thaddeus for a truly great hack! I'm still around level 10, so, back to playing!

Edit by DD:
For those who haven't followed this hack over the years, this is a compelte remake of Final Fantasy 1 for NES. It's the sequel to the highly acclaimed Dragoon X Omega (a hack of Dragon Warrior). It has brand new music, some ASM hacking, extensive graphics, map and just a complete overhaul of a hack. Definitely worth a look.
end DD edit
