Umm...15 years...
...and I accidentally overlooked that...the part about the orgins matching... Here. I'm wearing a shirt with a bull's eye on it. Use the shotgun and get 5 posts! But anyways, I've decided just to make a new level to replace the old one I damaged. I'm putting blocks on layer 2 made to fall when touched, but the ones across the area fall after the first block is touched! I saw Level 1E2 reset after passing, so what gives? By the way, does anyone want to see what a level looks like? |

I'm fairly certain it's not supposed to show up in Lunar Magic, what with Lunar Magic was never programmed with it in mind... |

Actually, I didn't even do a directory!
But now I have a dilema: the sprites aren't showing up in Lunar Magic. I do the manual insert for the Venus sprite, 1A, and put Extra Info at 3, but it still gets me the Classic Pihrana. Crab don't work either. If it's all simple to you, it's my fault. Age restrictions... |

I don't think copying and pasting the level and its sprites will fix it... Although you could give it a try, with the same settings.
Oh yeah, my mind was all screwed up with numbers and letters yesterday since I did maybe a little too much SMW editing... I understood what Alastor meant by B being 2, but I typed in the first thing that came to mind: Hex. So yeah, major screw up. |

About the question, yeah, I tried original directory, tool directory, and graphics directory. Is there a certain way I need the name typed in?
The full name of the ROM is Super Mario World (Mine), which is what I typed in. Yes, it is hacked, but only by Lunar Magic. All I'm doing is editing sprites and minor landscape measures, making it *wierd*. Once I get it fully functional, I'll test it on my cousin, and if it's a success, I'll put it here, there, or wherever I'm supposed to. Speaking of... Is there a way I can recover original levels? I messed up CHOCOLATE AREA 2 without reading the FAQ about it. Also, I have all the levels renamed. |

He was referring to the letter B, which is the second letter in the alphabet, and also represents the number 11 in hexadecimal.
Though he was still wrong to refer to it as hex, given the context. |

I was looking at it from an outlining view, so it really didn't make sense to have a roman numeral there. And I'm not too used to the slash being division still. I mean, I do know hex numbers, but that just kinda got me confused there. It wasn't visually in numerical order.
Bah, whatever. At least I understand what he was doing now. And yes, you're right, but kinda wrong. I did fail at hex values, math, and reasoning, but for that short time only. So.. Umm.. Yeah. |

1 is 1, B is letter 2, III is 3, 20/5=4.
Doritokiller fails at understanding ROM hacking and also basic mathematics and reasoning |

Well, coem patches are OK to use together. Say, the fix MAP16++ for blocks over $400, and the DW3 music patch, or the controller override patch, because it uses space in the original ROM for example.
Those are safe because they modify data that is not going to damage your hack, but you should make backups anyways to be sure (unless you haven't made any changes yet ) |

You can place the rom anywhere. It would be a lot easier if it were in the same directory as sprite tool, though.
Your question numbering is... Screwed up. 1, B, III (... The hell..?), 20/5. (... Uhh..) |
Madman200 Posts: 7/388 |
Well, really, two things:
1. I did mean the ones that said "Patches" on their cover, thank you for clarifying. B. I don't know how to move the data around yet. I'm still a newcomer to it. But I do use the programs that simplify, though. Like Lunar Magic III. I think I'm gonna get BLAMed for that comment. 20 / 5. Another question. With the Sprite Tool program, what directory do I need the ROM in? |
HyperHacker Posts: 2657/5072 |
The only thing you can really do is try. Make a backup and apply the patch. If everything still works, good. Otherwise, don't use that patch (or if you can, go in manually and move the data around). |

Well, depends. If it's musci and another patch, most likely no, if it's 2 hack patches, no, but if it's 2 patches like classic fireball Classic Piranha GFX fix, yeah. Just usually depends. |
Doritokiller Posts: 238/369 |
Most of the time, no. If you were to use a music patch and another patch, then there's a chance that it'll connect. If you patch, say Super Mario Odyssey and Super Demo World, it'll become a whole bunch of garbage.
If you must multi-patch, make a backup of your rom. |

I'm not sure about it, but would it be safe to use multiple patches? |
