Good idea that you deleted the account competly, since with IE it tracks every site you visit permamently in a certain file. It's possible to delete that file in certain ways, but since it's in the account folder somewhere that I forgot then well... if your account folder is gone too then you shouldn't worry about it. And even then, I doubt you dad knows about thoose files anyway.

I've already deleted other programs, like Skype and mIRC... I'll remove AIM in a few days and just delete this account. That seems like the easiest way, and since I won't be using the computer for at least 5 months, I think it will be fine without an account for me. I'll set up a new one when the time comes.

Thanks for the help, all.

I'm not to familiar with IE, but if there's a Reset IE or Reset to Factory Settings option on IE, choose that. It should wipe everything in IE, including all favorites, history, and anything else that has been done in/with IE. If there isn't an option like that, then what you can do is set the history to forget things immediately, come to the board, and then leave. That may not work though. Another thing you could do is to not use IE for the next few days and hope that it forgets all that stuff. Those are my suggestions that you should try before you go and do anything extreme. Hopefully I helped.

The easiest would be just starting a new account and deleting the one you are using now. Starting a new account starts a new favorites folder, history and all that. Like in your screenshot when you placed "b" and then the board name came up; creating a new account will not show that again ... Just make sure that if you do create a new account that you delete everything (everything) from your current one. There will be no trace of history, cookies, ect. A fresh account starts things from the beginning.

Edit: Keep in mind also, that installed programs will show on the new account unless you uninstall them.

But then you'd have to assume that once someone types "b" to put in a new URL, good ol' "board.acmlm.org" would be in that list. Well, unless all those sites you went to to push it off started with b...

Try reinstalling IE via: control panel>add/remove programs>add/remove windows components>internet explorer. Then go find the newest IE and install that.

Other than that... do the registry thing, and make good use of the search option (start>run>regedit to edit registry, in case you didn't know), searching for and deleting every occurance of acmlm. (I'd definitely create a system restore point before attempting that).

OKay... Load up IE (close all other windows first), then clear the history (make sure your home page isn't acmlm's), and then close IE.

Reopen IE, and see what appears in your address bar when you pull it down.

In the Registry editor, the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs looks interesting. Try clearing the contents of this key.

Neo: Nope, that didn't do it either. =\ I guess I'll have to delete this account altogether if nobody knows why they won't go away. Bah.

Right click on taskbar, select properties. It should bring up Taskbar and Start Menu Properties. Go to Start Menu Tab, click on customize, then click the clear button under "To remove records of recently accessed documents, programs, and Web Sites, click Clear"

They're supposed to (get deleted). And I think it's worth a try, no?

I know, I've thought about that... it would be easiest, but my concern was whether the files get deleted or if they get sent to some shared files account. They do get deleted?

Of course, you could delete your account and make another one

I believe it would work.

But I HAVE deleted every temp internet file. I just did this, before re-opening Acmlm's, and took a screenshot. After just deleting them, certain links are still there. The image is attached.

Also, I can't reformat if it means wiping the comp. That's not an option. Going into the registry is a possibility, but I'd have no idea what I was doing or where to look.

When you go to install Windows, it'd ask you what partition/disk to install on. There you should be able to reformat the partition. What that means, though, is to delete everything and create a brand new filesystem with nothing on it.

If you can't do that, then you should delete every file in Temporary Internet Files. I think IE has a button to open this directory in the options dialog. Your best bet would be to copy the path, write it down or save it in a text file, reboot in Safe Mode, and delete it there (using a console, if you know how, would be even better); this helps ensure it doesn't leave behind files because IE still wants them.

Reformatting for me involves kiling every file on the hard drive, among other things

But yeah, try searching for those addresses in the registry. I've never had that problem, because I keep my days to rememebr stuff at 0.

Also, those lines that don't disappear- have you gone to them today? they'll be around if they've been accesssed since the last wipe of the history.

Reformatting?

Keep in mind that this is only to clean up my account on the computer, and that I can't really mess with the other accounts on here.

And that you need to explain what/how to reformat plz

Your number starts with a zero! omgwtf

Anyway reformatting is the only way to ensure it's 100% clean, but for those address bar entries, try searching for them in the registry.
