Most stuff works and/or has been upgraded since 1.5's release.

Worst case scenario is that you go without a few things for a few days at most, really.

I think I´ll wait with downloading this until they´ve made the extensions work in the 1.5 version.

But it´ll be nice with a new version.

Yeah, a LOT of extensions don't work now or need to be upgraded... I needed to change from Adblock to Adblock Plus since Adblock... well... wasn't allowing Java or Flash to run. :\

Buh...I never knew you could do that until now!

*drags a tab*

*puts it back*

...

But anyway, I was using Camino for a while because Firefox's incomplete, inconsistent, and very un-OS X-interface-like shortcut set irritated me, but I tried out Deer Park when I heard about its much better OS X build (which seems to have taken cues from Camino for shortcut design), and I was happy with the revisions and have been using Firefox ever since. The one thing that annoys me about FF is that the RadialContext extension has not been updated for 1.5 compatibility, and it behaved strangely after I used that "force update" extension on it. That doesn't bother me at home because I do most of my navigation with keyboard shortcuts (under OS X and on the laptop, it's just easier), but it is a pain in my ass at work because I'm so used to gesturing all over the place.

I don't mind the new style either. But then, it really doesn't impact me all that much. I don't often use the menus, for starters.

As for extensions... all but one of mine is currently broken. Oh well. Greasemonkey shouldn't take too long to be updated. I can't remember what "Objection" is, but I do miss "Tab Mix".

Heh, it's possible to manually force old extensions but it's kinda risky. Besides one of my extensions was set to work with Firefox 1.5, but screwed up so I had to manually disable it.

The new style dosen't bother me, and I kinda like it even. :/

Anyways, got it last night. Besides the graphics updates, it doesn't seem to be that different.

Both of those seem to make perfect sense in the flow of the thread, I could always edit and quote so it'd be clear what I was responding to. And anyway, you're really not one to talk about shooting off one-liners.

Honestly, I'm not seeing much of a difference between the previous versions, I think that because the others are using more extensions than me, that's why they're noticing more problems, quite honestly.

Edit: I've now edited both of the above to make it clear what I was responding to in the thread.

OK I have done som leetz researching.

To get back the old non-ugly menus download This and put it in your "%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\whatwhat.default\chrome" folder.

To get mouse wheel tab scrolling get the All-in-One Gestures extension.

I still haven't found a way to make Image Zoom work in the newest version.
HyperHacker: I want to be able to zoom in/out images by clicking and holding right mouse button on them and then scrolling the wheel. There isn't anything on Pornzilla that lets me do that.

You use Windows. It fucks up file extensions, crashes the computer and corrupts the registry regardless of what you install.

incidentally since removing said foul program and repairing the problems it created I have never had such problems again.

Sure, but it'd be with a webcam.

And about thoose videos... I wouldn't. That's for sure. I have too dodgy English. xD

I'm sure they could use some in other languages too. The Internet is worldwide, you know. That's why we're all speaking English in the first place.

1.5 and 1.5 RC3 are exactly the same with the installer renamed to remove the RC3 portion.

So...? RC3 stands for release candidate 3. A release candidate is what will be the final version if no more bugs are found. Obviously, none were.

Well, that's something that I always find a problem with the releases -- extensions. It doesn't tend to pay to be an early adopter as far as extensions go... the community catches up fairly quickly though.

Zem, could you please refrain from trolling? You're not adding anything remotely interesting (or funny) to this thread. At least max and xkeeper have both stated actual complaints against Firefox. Although xkeeper's story is a bit weird -- I've heard of it losing favorites, but not..... all of that (Was this a release version of Firefox, or one of the technology previews? )

The Mac version is pretty good incidentally. The Mac version in the past has had its share of weirdness.... it's good to see improvement

1.5 sucks.

* Ugly menus
* Adblock now doesn't remove ads, it shows the "could not be found" image. Might be fixed in newer version of adblock I haven't checked.
* Good version of Image Zoom doesn't work. Is it possible to make old extensions work in new versions of firefox?
* Mouse wheel to change tab is still not an official function, and the extension I had to make it do that doesn't work in 1.5.

I might switch back to the old version of Firefox cause of this actually

Edit: I've been using it for like 10 minutes now and not being able to switch tabs with the mouse is seriously fucking annoying. The closes I have found is MileWideBack, but for that I have to hold the mouse at the far left of the sreen. I want to be able to do it while holding my mouse over the tabs.

I'll save you the time -- it's more of the same but with bug fixes and rearrangable tabs. Which means I like it, and you probably will not.

Also, please refrain from saying that it "sucks". Just because it's not your cup of tea doesn't mean that the browser "sucks", it just means that you don't like it.
