Nah, you didn't see me.

I've been very sick and wasa in the emergency room a little while ago for a severe kidney infection.

Plus my new kitten is sick, and so is Tragic. :/ The little one still has the coccidia medicine to take, and we couldn't run off and just leave her..and now Tragic is scooting around, and we think he has anal gland problems. And he's balding on his stomach, which we have to get figured out.

I wish I could've gone, but I heard it was pretty mediocre. I'm going to try and go next year though. DO YOU WANT TO ROOM? XD

But yeah, July has not been my month. :/ I've had food poisoning, and now severe kidney infection, and during the cat scan in the emergency room they found something in my lung, so OH NOES, I COULD HAVE LUNG CANCER. Or something. :/

Why thank you sir! *bows*

Preregistering is special because Otakon now has an attendance cap. If you prereg, you guarantee that you'll get a pass. From what I recall, they still had at-con registrations well into Saturday this year, but still, it's good to know that you'll be definitely going. It's also handy if you can get to Baltimore on Thursday to pick up your badge that evening so you don't have to worry about it on Friday (and are able to make it to morning Friday events because there's no chance you'll be stuck in line).

VERY nice, but we need to find more pics.

I wonder what's so special about pre-registering if you still have to go through hell when you get there.

I think I saw Amanda, but I was running outside for a photoshoot with a Deathcom Multimedia photographer, so I was like DEH CONFUSED. Sorry about that!

I put a con report in my LJ. If you don't want to read all of that, here's the really brief synopsis.

Good stuff - Dynasty Warriors cosplay (we wound up getting a private photoshoot as mentioned above), chatting with nifty artists, playing a silly taiko drum game, Katie Bair's wig panel

Bad stuff - Looooong prereg line, getting a sunburn due to being an idjit and forgetting my sunblock, the Silent Hill panel (which managed to be largely pointless no matter whether you were a n00b or a fan), the aches and pains that naturally come along with wearing a heavy, unbalanced wig, having the elastic pop off my knee guards and no way to jury-rig them so I could at least wear them somehow

And the first picture of myself I found is on this page. Third pic down with the gold claws, purple armor, black ponytail, and OMGFLOOF.

Nice to hear it went well. Can't be awesome each year I figure, but still... "fun" is always a good word to use when describing a con.

Anyone have pics? Rydain?

Bump since I just got back. Wasn't as awesome this year in either the Artist Alley or Dealer's Room due to staff squabbling scaring off vendors, but it was still fun. The 4chan panel was goddam amazing, I haven't laughed so hard in ages. Went drinking with Moot, Snacks, and Davey (formerly Scribblekid) after the Aftermath, which was fun. Was very nice seeing Davey again, so I was content.

Anyone elses thoughts?

Hey Rydain, I actually met you at Otakon last year and gave you a hug. FEAR ME.

I'm going to Otakon, but not dressing up due to financial problems. I was at animazement though as a guest with a wig panel, since I do wig commissions for cosplayers.

read: Get time off work, buy your ticket at the door. The line for reservations is usually longer than walk in's, as amusing as that is.

And there is a high probability I'll be going as a /b/tard. (Since Aya and I are going to the /b/tard showing of Snakes on a Plane in PA anyway.)

There's a con in Adelaide this weekend. I've never been to one before, and I didn't know about it in time to dress up or draw a whole heap of fan-art to sell or anything. I'm disappointed I didn't know earlier, and I'm not sure if I'm going to go or not.

We don't have a lot of anime stuff here in Adelaide (read: almost none) and certainly not the amount of cons that I hear about overseas...

Hey, that's better than me. I've been meaning to go to AVCon last year and this year, but I always forget and find out a couple of days after that I've missed it. ;

I've done it two years in a row now. Oh well, always AVCon2007. ;

I keep meaning to go to Otakon, yet fate keeps making me flat broke around this time of year.

Alas.

You may see my friend Leerie, though, she's going with a bunch of friends for their third year in a row. Don't rightly recall if they're going to be doing any cosplaying though.

So next year we'll be hearing the story about how Taryn went to a great party and came back $1000 richer, right?

You're that popular around those parts? Wow!

Sorry you're ill. There's always next time... and you can prepare months in advance.

Apparently I am as everybody kept asking me if I was going Even when it was clear that I was pale, swaying and looking distinctly like I might be violently ill...

Oh well, I guess there's always next year. I got plenty of time to plan something to wear, and draw a bunch of fan-art and such.

Well, it turns out that I can't go to AVcon today anyways, because I feel much more influenza than usual.

Nuts. I was thinking about putting in an appearance or something, but I guess it's not happening.

Montreal just had Otakuthon last month, which was our first notable anime convention. I couldn't go because I had other things to do (*cough*WORLD CUP*cough*) that weekend, but it looks like it was a huge success; I believe 2,500+ were in attendance over the weekend which is well above what the organizers hoped for, so the odds of there being a 2007 edition are good.

All I know is that cosplay was out in force judging by the pictures. I'd probably stick out like a sore thumb if I had gone.

There's a slim chance of me going. Although at this point i doubt it . Couple of close friends of mine are going (one of which is cosplaying as Garma Zabi, so be on the look out for any slightly purple-haired crazy people in Zeonic uniforms playing IIDX or something).

I went to anime boston couple of months ago and had a blast. I still have some of the pics up on my space, if anyone wants to see them . None of me, though I'll probably be going to it next year, possibly cosplaying (either Zengar, Arad or one of the POOL'S CLOSED guys).

I believe this is the URL to the pics anyways

I was supposed to go a few years ago with a friend, but that fell through. HOWEVAR, there is a certain person on my friends list on LJ (Rydain, I mean besides you, so feel free to poke around) who's going and is cosplaying. I'm all about making the connections.

I'll be there as well. Most likely hanging out at the Chugworth and VGcats tables harassing my buds, so you know where to find me if you care. =p

And yeah, I'm back after a year and a half or so. Scary, no?
