Thanks a lot for the links! There seem to be lots of different versions of FCE Ultra out there, so it gets kind of confusing at times. |

I don't know that particular emulator, but you'll probably love the FCE Ultra version modified for TASing (rerecord, input display, frame advance, etc). Yes, you can press buttons and then do a frame-advance to have that particular input done inside the game; if you couldn't, it would be a useless feature .
Also, check out the Super Mario Bros Tricks page which has some information about exploiting the SMB3 physics (and SMB1/2j). |

Some of these might be stupid questions, but I haven't gotten very in-depth with NES emulation yet, so bear with me, please...
I remember seeing a SMB1 video on Youtube that seemed to have an onscreen input display... a little NES controller icon whose buttons would light up green while they were being pressed. I can't find the video now, but if I do, I'll post a link. (EDIT: Here's the video.) What emulator has this feature? Also, does this emulator have a frame advancing feature (meaning pausing, and being able to go to the very next 1/60 second tick by pressing something), and the ability to record and play back input? Is there any emulator that allows you to do inputs while frame advancing (for example, in the arcade emulator "Kawaks", if you pause the game, then advance to the next frame while holding down a button, the emulator reads that button as being pressed on that frame)? Just in case you're curious what all this is about, I'm planning on doing some research on SMB3's physics... they're some of the best ever in a platformer, IMO. Thanks! |
