I could respond to this. I know it was supposed to be funny. Buuut...I have no idea how to react to it. It wasn't funny...but then again it wasn't that offensive. It just troubles me that they actualy used such a thing at any given point for their military. |

Der Fuehrer's Face comes to mind.
Well, if you don't like Donald Duck as a Nazi then that's your problem. It wasn't unprofessional, it was just propaganda. There's a reason why none of those cartoons were shown after the war. |

Yeah, that was pretty disturbing. Kinda like that banned Bugs Bunny cartoon I saw once, with Bugs fighting the Japanese.
From memory, I think ole Bugs looks quite cute in kimono |

Originally posted by Fluffy Colin Cuddlekins Oh yeah. One of those cartoons would send just about anything from this time period home when it comes to controversy. Der Fuehrer's Face comes to mind. Just about everything from back then used the N-Word and other slurs without remorse. But now, we're kind of at the other extreme: too much of it in some places. I heard that they censored "warrant" on MTV once. Which is ridiculous, considering they allow "menopause" on Cartoon Network. But...anyhow... |

Originally posted by Danielle You should see some of the old cartoons from that time period, Danielle. Back then, totally acceptable; now, pretty disturbing. |

Originally posted by jeff Damn straight. Hell, almost anything out that time period is funny or interesting. Here is another example, a guide to hand-to-hand fighting. Just about every other direction is "knee him in the testicles" or "seize his testicles". The pictures are also fairly unusual. Check it out - but don't actually use this unless you have no honor (or are in a war and prefer to be living and dishonorable). It instructs you to fight dirty. Really dirty. |
