No, since the .tbl format is a romhacking-specific convention (established by Thingy way back in the day) and Hex Workshop is commercial software, .tbl files are not supported. There are character map files you can tinker with, but their format is obtuse and only supports single-byte equivalencies.

thanks

BTW can Hex workshop open your tables(tbl) like windhex? I cant find it's "open table", but how it's complex it seems it should.

You could use that also. Sometimes it helps, since some games load tiles from more than two banks. When you go to look for the text in FECUXD, you may not see it even though the game is using it.

how very helpful you are

Tables ARE how you get a universal text editor; rarely do games use the same exact letters in the same exact location, thus hex editors use tables.

There's a few ways to make a table. Rather, find the letters' values: one way is to run FCEUXD/a tile editor which supports showing what tile is seleceted (YY-CHR shows what tile is $00 $01 ect... based on where the bank begens). In both cases, just run over the graphics of each letter and the write down (in NotePad) its hex. Once you have all of the text, save the file was .TBL or change its extension. Then load the table in your editor of choice (as long as it supports tables).

The other method is relative searching. Simply type in your word/sentence/whatever and the editor will run through the ROM looking for anything that could be text. To exaplin it would take a small bit of time, so I'll leave it at that.

Everything you could need for tables, aside from actual help.

Any good win programs for universal text editing. I have hexwin and did as the romhacks for noobs said, but the tables thing is quite unsure, all the ones i seen is dos and i cant browse for file open, and everytime I put in of the rom name wont work.

Either that or tell me the table of kirby's adventure.
